    Default A few simple questions

now, the title may say simple but i'm a dope so i'm going to need your help on this guys/girls

    1. when my car changes from 1st-2nd or 2nd - 3rd it sorta over revs the gear and kicks back wen changing... is this a diff problem or a tranny problem? is it easily fixable and how much would it cost?

    2. approx how much is it to get your rotors machined?

    3. how do u take out your locks and smooth it over so it doesn't look like you have locks?

Thanks in advance for the help
    cheers

i think the rotor thing was $50 per rotor. not sure though.

the first problem, maybe your kickdown cable needs adjusting?

nah it's not the kickdown(pretty sure), like even wen ur just lightly putting ur foot on the pedal it still sorta jerks inbetween the first n second gear, if anything the lighter ur touching the pedal the more violent the kickback

    thanks for ur help

Is the fluid level right in the transmission? Low levels of fluid will cause violent change's.

if you just want to remove the locks, get a set of door handles from the rear doors of another vn or even try and get em from a vr/vs, the handles are alloy on vr/s.

and just take old ones out of the front doors, remove the lock from the rod, put rear ones in and done. but im not sure how you will go with the rod flopping around inside the door, i took mine off my project wagon, coz its getting the shaved treatment, but i broke the rod ends which are plastic.

remove the handles, weld a sheet of steel in, bog it up, sand it back to right shape, paint. thats the easy way, otherwise, its, shape a piece of metal same curve as door, weld it in, grind back welds, clean it all up, bog an gaps, paint.

boot lock, most people will just bog and smooth. i myself will be trying to use the least bog as possible when i do mine.

Umm, how do you open the door if there are no handles?

you leave the window open and do it "duke of hazzard" style

with some messing around. some people use electronic "poppers" but to be legal there needs to be a mechanical way to open it. i will be using the existing door handle rod, just extending it out the top of the door strip, will be a push down button.

sounds good, I think i might just shave the back door handles n boot lock

anyone know about the first question? causing a few probs.. wen i accelerate or the auto changes in between gears i hear a big clunk, now i'm guessing that the diff is it?

also, would it be the tranny or diff, where my car over n out revs in first gear to change into second and kicks back hard when doing so?

just wondering, do you have central locking or something? is that why you wanted the front door locks covered?

    Check your transmission fluid first:

Start the car in park, let it warm up, or even take it for a drive, pop the hood and check the fluid. If its all good then get your kickdown cable adjusted from a mechanic.

Rotors are about 50 bucks to do, depends how bad they are, make sure you will have enough disc left so that the are not undersized.
