    Default too much oil

does anyone know a way to syphon oil out of the sump? maybe thru the dipstick tube?

I accidentally put five litres of shell helix semi synth in and it is way over on the dipstick and i have noticed fuel consumption is up and the car is running a little rough now

loosen the sump plug off enough to allow it to drain slowly and drain about 1.5 litres out.... syphoning? I've syphoned petrol out before and that left a nasty taste for about 3 hours..

if you over fill your car with oil you can cause an hydraulic lock in your engine
THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT

To get a hydraulic lock the oil would have to be several times more than the sump holds. The main risk is to the following:
1] The oil could be whipped to froth if it comes into contact with the crankshaft.
2] The expansion of the oil could pop a seal or run out of any non contact seals such as front crankshaft seal if its the type that runs in close proximity to the crankshaft or is a felt seal (I'm talking general here because I think the commodore engine has a lipped seal).
3] Oil could be blown out the dipstick tube and I have seen an engine where it lifted the dipstick up enough to vibrate out when the engine was reved (4cyl engine had 8 litres in sump when mechanic put oil in the sump and his ever helpful apprentice came back from the loo and put some in as well).
