Default Manual conversion vs stage 2 shift kit

lo everyone... This has probably been put up a million times but i couldnt really find anything. Basically i have a vp wagon.. spooled charger to come eventually twin turbo.. Basically i have some cash sitting aside and i cant decide to do a manual conversion or put a shift kitted auto in the wags. (stage 2 with corvette servo)... What does everyone recon.

So long as you know how to launch and shift properly the manual would be a hell of a lot more enjoyable. But if you're the kind of person who just likes to mash the throttle and just steer then I'd go the shift kit.

auto, if its a good setup you will have so much over a manual, like take off and change wise. Auto's can be fun also

Why not go a fully manualised auto? Its the best of both worlds.
Best setup for the strip and burnouts, and you still control what gear you use.

Stage 2 shift kit all the way. Ask anyone who actually works on cars.Auto setups are faster than manuals especially in quarter mile times.

straight line + drags + burnouts = good auto setup.
    cornering + fun + drifto-blasto = manual

Manual has so much an auto can never offer. And believe me, it's not THAT much effort in traffic. It all happens automatically in your head, and you don't even notice you're doing it. And yes, you can still drink a can and have a smoke while driving a manual It's not so hard. Learn to be lazy with gears My VQ is a two-speed in the city. 2nd gear for launches, 4th gear for cruising, clutch in and nuteral to stop.

Autos are a pain in the backside anyway. They always break and leak And they're stealing all your horsepower in that pesky torque converter!!! If you get good at manual launches, you can launch just as hard as any shift kitted auto.

    Manual especially a T5.

i have seen too many auto's fail.

surely if you have the money for a good rebuilt auto id go with that but for the price of the manual you wont get a good auto

Manual for sure. Through the years i've been playing with cars i've learnt that Auto's wreck motors. Once the auto starts slipping, The torque converter Doesn't spin correctly and it damages the crankshaft and causes rear main seal leaks and ruins the crank bearings.
Quick question - how many VN/VP with Auto's do you know have rear main leaks? Compare that to how many Manuals have rear main leaks. I rest my case!
A bit of determination and a want for the highest standards doesn't cost that much!

Def manual for sure, I have so much more fun in one, The only car ive been in that comes close to a good launch in a manual was a m8's Vr V8, and thats mainly because the box was spaztic and unless he got it just right, he'd have nothing but wheels spin.

I have a VP V6 with a stage 2 shift kit, corvette servo, boost valve, and other uprated components... It's pretty fun, the driveline isn't a huge fan though.

Ive got my manual licence, but I havent really driven a manual in aaaaages but just driving in general is more fun, it feels like your in more control of the car and you also have to do more things at once which in turn makes you a better driver, like Morton said you just get used to it.
Amazing how many people dont have their C (manual) licence
