Vn-Vp computer

i've got a V6 manual vp and looking at getting 2.5" extractors and straight through exhaust and also want to modify my computer. does anyone konw about computer chips?? i'v rang around and been told by 6 places to go to ChipTorque in QLD, their asking $500 which is more than i want to spend, and im in melbourne. how much will the exhaust and chip do for my car, performance and ecconomy wise? i've been told changing the computer you can get better economy which would be nice with the way petrol is going.
