    Default loss of light power

    hey guys and gals. for a wile now my lights have always dimmed with my subs, like every part of the bass my lights flash abit. but i also noticed wen i put the clutch in and let revs drop down my lights dim alot more, is this my alternator going or something else??? also its a new batt and bigger one

    you need a bigger altenator, the one you are curently using doesn't have the grunt to keep up with the demand. either that or you can keep buying batteries every few months.

    oh, and untill then, keep a pair of jumper-leads handy.........

    wats a bigger alternator gonna cost me then? but the odd thing is im only running 1 10inch sub and 2 6 x 9 200 wat keny's of my american boss 800 watt amp. and it has a fairly short earth, so should it still be doing this???

    depends, your alternator may already be on the way out. being a bigger battery, your alt may already be struggling to keep up and the fact that it dims when the clutch is in is simply because the revs have dropped, did you ever have one of those friction lights on a push bike? the faster your wheels were going the more it got brighter.

    if you are in doubt about you alt, take it to an auto elecy or grab a multi meter and check what it's voltage out put is under full load, eg:- lights, stereo, etc while it is running.
