hey boys and gals,
just wondering if anyone has found a solution to the damm leaky tailight problem which seems to have infected every second VN/VP on the road... Id rather aviod silicone, messy and attracts dirt.. If anyone has ne suggestions that would be great...
If not might just end up sticking the goldfish in those fish tanks... or should i say tailights...
Cheers..

pull them off and clean the drain hole out?
drill a small hole or 2 in the bottom.. i dont think they have drain holes dodgy.. thats what i had to do with my old ccar cause it was the same
where bouts in the bottom do you drill them, because doesnt the light fit inside the boot as in the coloured part fits flush with the boot? so wont the light fill up the drain straight into the boot?
THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT
There's lots of threads on this around the place, because it's so common.
In short, pull the light assembly off, pull the coloured lens off the body of the assembly, seal it up with silicon and clip it back together, run a bead of silicone around where the foam seal makes contact with the body of the car, bolt it all back together and it's all good.
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.
silicon is your best bet, weather you like it or not, if you have a hole and its pissing down with rain its still going to get inside your globe, i just sealed mine today because i was sick of replacing the globes,
ye might just have to do it heaps carefully so as to not make a mess of it... i hate that silicone globy look...Originally Posted by PaRaDoX616
its not just the the globes either hey, its the damm looms rusting out aswel, i bought brand new ones thru motor traders only 3 months ago and already 1 of the sockets looks like the boot of a gemmi thats been out in the rain....
well looks like its a trip to bunnings for me... might get some black silicone see if that looks ne more normal...
cheers for the advice..

I agree. Use plenty of silicone around the top and sides. Use a bit of metho on your finger and run along where you put the silicone while its still wet. This will give you a nice smooth finish. Use a bit more metho to clean up any spots that have got silicone where you don't want.
A couple of holes drilled in the lamp unit will drain out any water that may get in. Drill the holes in the boot side where the arrows are. That way the water will drain outside the car, not in the boot.
