Ok so heres the go about 6 months ago I got the engine stripped down and rebuilt by the brock shop cost me a packet so now i'm brokecar caught on fire maybe once or twice since ... first time was a dodgey high presure power steering hose that under full lock leaked over me engine and ignited ....
Fire is Bad MMMMM K
Anyhow now it seems the power steering pump is leaking from just behind the pully thing on the front the oil filter gasket is busted and me tranmission is leaking from somewhere... also have some white smoke from exhaust when I start her up in the morning .. which I'm told has somethin to do with the transmission? Owe and to top it all up one of me hoses for me radiator is leaking .... only found this out when I got under me car the other day to do an oil change !!:b:
so question is, is this stuff all easily accesisble and fixable say over a weekend I got me one of them gregories manuals but if you's can point me in the right direction that'd be grand
take it back to the brovk shop!!! sounds nasty - you definately dont want fire!!
Hey, doing the coolant hose is a piece of cake. Just make sure that you bleed the system once you're done.
I don't know about the power steering pump though, might just be easier to get a reco unit and do a swap over (or say hello to a wreckers yard), I don't know that you'd be able to replace the seal yourself.
I can't see how the transmission would have anything to do with smoke out of the exhaust, who told you that it did?
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.
just in me searchin the forums saw somethin bout white smoke means transmission ... just thougth I'd check cause I'm not realy sure about it ...
Yeah gonna get a hose tomorrow and fix that up replaced all the other ones a while back .... would ya belive it's the only one I didn't touch
Yeah the whole catchin on fire issue has been resolved .... amazingly there was no damage to any part of the engine bay
no i highly doubt that white smoke will be cause by the transmission. but stranger things have happened
THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT
I think you may have read that white smoke means there is a transmission problem in the early model commodores forum.
I think the earlt commos had a vacuum line from the transmission to the manifold. There is a valve that can break in the line causing fluid to enter the combustion chamber and burn.
Don't quote me on this but i have read it some where in the forums in the past.
But the VP commo did not have these vacuum lines.

cheers felas ... so any ideas on whats causing it or is it nothing to worry about .... perhaps it's just cold in the mornin ... doesn't do it in the arvo
You know for a fact that it is smoke? Is there a chance that it's just steam?
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.
yeah so if it's steam it's not a problem? cause it's probably just condensation or something right?
Well went down to the brock shop turns out the power steering resivior is busted again .... and just a couple of pipe need replacing so looks like I'm gonna sit back have a beer or two and dive in
Thanks for ya help felas, just worried out of my mind as usual
white smoker means ur tranny is leakin onto ur zorst apparently.
m8 with a auto vs had the same problem.
rad hose is easy 2 change.
as for the power steering pump, mine has the same problem, but i pissed off the power steering rack long ago n converted it to manual, but i just cant justify payin $270 odd for the CRS idler pulley so ill make my own 1 day soon.
sweet as fixed it all for under 100 bucks went down the brock shop and it all seems sweet
Bloody awesome!
