Default couple of probs with VP

hey in the VP my dad just brought theres a couple of lil probs.

1st one: wen ur shifting down from 4th gear to 3rd. it wont let u go into 3rd. so what we have to do is with the clutch in, go from 4th down to 2nd and then back up to 3rd. any ideas?

2nd one: when u press down on the clutch its hard 2 start with then half way down it goes in really easy. it also does it wen u let it out, but its easy first then hard. any ideas?

3rd and final prob: the spare tire well fills up with water. how would we stop that from happening.

    Kind Regards,
    Trent

well, if you take it to a mechanic he/she is just going to say "ah yes well i'll get my blokes to look at it for ya!" then you'll come back in the arvo and he'll will say "yeeeees. it seems to me that you need a new gear box. it will only cost all of your life savings. thankyou have a good day!" same with the clutch. you could probably fix the leak urself by replacing the seals around the lid of the boot. or you could take it to a mechanic and they will charge u an arm and a leg. theres never an easy way out when it comes to car troubles - unless you are a mechanic or know ur sh*t

PM sent about number 3. It's a hell of a lot of reading, but I can almost promise you that you'll be able to fix the leak(s).
