I want my car to run 0-100 in under 7 sec no turbo or s/c atm im running 8.5 is this possible to accomplish. wat about a diff ratio change. i intend to get it strokered in the not so near future (when i get a rebuild)
strokingwill definately give you a nice power boost - its pretty costly though (i think) compared to forced induction. What mods have you got at the moment?
SS Inductions CAI, KN Filter, extractors, 3" High Flow Cat, 2.5" Redback cat back system (no rear resinator), fully reconditioned gearbox stage 2 shift kit.And really f@#kin hard suspension slightly lowered.
[i also have a sub, a neon, a body kit, and a zorst tip - do these make me go faster] LOL
I would love to stroke my VR V6 (yeah i said VR!), but the stroker kits are roughly 3000-3500, so tis pretty costly.. I would recommend to you, imposter s pack, that you look into some diff gears (maybe 3.7:1, depending on what kinda drivin you do) and maybe some a v8 throttle body? Sounds like you've sorted out your exhaust pretty much, not much room for improvment there. Also speakin to greanfoam or dr. bob about a memcal might help![]()
Cheers, Gaz
oh yep forgot about that ...i got one of dr bobs chips
You're running 0-100 in 0.4 seconds slower than stock and you have those mods?? Are you sure you've timed it right? What kind of extractors are they?
Jack have you ever timed your car? You would have to be real close to cutting a 7 second 0-100??
thats with my mate next to me using a stopwatch
Get rid of your mate and you'll save .3 for a start(at least). Are you getting 100% traction? if you want to run a fast time in a V6 or any other car the last thing you need is wheelspin
Especially if those are decent extractors I would think you would be running 7 flat surely.
no wheelspin
i paid $570 fitted for my extractors dunno much about them
I dunno, but your car should definatly be running low 7 second to 100, is your throttle body opening all the way? maybe it's not, maybe the cable is loose too, lota little things could be not right.
Lets start with a stock VN series one
Straight up in perfect running condition with no wheelspin you should be under 8 seconds 0-100 perhaps anywhere right down to 7.5 or so depending on the car. With your extractors and exhaust you would have to assume they made more power. The chip should have given you up to .2 of a second if it was runnign right in the first place, but it gave you alot more which is a bit suss because it might show you that something else is not right, perhaps fuel system? filter/regulator?
how much do you want to spend?
i get around 7.8 on my vr v6 and thats not the best start. its auto v6 i got ported and polished heads, pacemaker extractors, 2 1/2 exhuast with stock cat, memcal, cai, thats a bout it for performance stuff. ive been told the vr auto is pretty laggy.. so ur vn should be a little better then what you are getting..Originally Posted by foammedia
i get 7.85 in my calais fulley loaded, that was when i had the Gtec to play with... damn i need to buy one of them
hows your fuel filter and injectors?? wouldnt hurt to change the filter and clean injectors
i doubt your lacking exhust flow, and intake flow seems to be good so maybe get the heads worked??? a good port job would help,
also when you time, remove any excess weight such as your mate :P and your sub, they'res probbly 100kg right there
you'll drop 0.5 seconds there also make sure your running decant fuel... i find BP ultimate is good, the BP 95 dosnt like my car, and Optimax dosnt like my car, but shells unleaded 95 likes it, and shells 92 dosnt like mine...
realisticly stroking it isnt worth the money you shouldnt write off forced induction so quickly
judging from modified VNs N/A the engine strugles to make more than 150rwkw
with alot of work, with forced induction 200rwkw is achieveable, v6 vengence was making 272rwkw @ 12 psi or something
they'res another VP turbo near me that makes 220rwkw....
even a sc14 setup would go nicely or a m90......
