Well i think its come time to rebuild my poor tired engine that ticks away and chews 17l/100kms i was wondering wat price id be looking at for a full rebuild i have done a bit of serching and i think im looking at roughly 3 grand, I have thought about a exchange engine from this place that reconds engines for like 900 bucks but i dont think i trust a exchange engine.
I would also consider putting a cam in and getting it all tuned properly when done but i just need to know wat costs i will be looking at any help or advice will be much appreciated
ha ha sounds like the wags
ok first, rebuilding is only possible if the block is still good (usually is)
a high performance cam shaft (crow cams) will cost you around $1200-1300, get the stage 3 from crow cam (higher lifter) its only $100 more than stage 2 and for the power increase is worth it, but rebuilding with good performance parts will cost you alot more than 3k, your better off getting a reco, my mate got a reco VK engine, 68,000k's on it and it was $120, he runs it on gas, its the nicest running VK carby/gas ive been in.. ask your self this, do i really need a full rebuild? if you've got oil pissing out where its not supposed to be and its sluggish and chews petrols, stalls, misfires, backfires, pings.. then maybe, but you might beable to rebuild it with a few new parts not a full rebuild.... could work out to be alot cheaper or just get another motor with round 100-200k's... its up to you, but a full rebuild (stock) will cost $3000-4000, you can nearly get a GEN-III for that... i think its money well spent somewhere else
