Hi i have a 91 5 speed vn and am looking at a powerchip.
The one im lookin at has V4 on it, Any one know what that is?
It also is for a auto but have been told that they are the same for both maual and auto in the vn's, Is this corect, If not what will go wrong putting a auto chip in with a manual?
thanks.

Well in the 1991 models i think its the same, but pre-1991, manuals had a different crankshaft to the automatics...which could perhaps cause a difference? Im not entirely sure though.
The main difference is that auto ECU's have a slightly different idle setup I think. I'm pretty sure it will work fine but yeah, I think I remember reading something about the idle being a bit weird. Not sure what program V4 is, try googling it just for fun, I'm too lazy. Also there are options other than a powerchip, I think Dr Bob on these forums sells go fast chips as well, just in case you wanna shop around a bit.
I recommend and so do many guys HALTECH ENGINE MANAGMENT!Originally Posted by kasey375

V4 sound like tunerpro,
anywy a power chip wil do wonders if it's programeed right
The "Powerchip" brand memcals offer good performance gains.
if you can get it cheap do it, but dont pay over $250 for it

Rob
is this about the one on ebay?? i have seen one on there and it says sumthing about the v4 thing
he V4 is the Powerchip version number, the latest is V4.161 i think, it is to identify the latest revision
Rob
my powerchip 98 is for sale, will suit a VN V6 Auto, but to be honest i don't know how it will react with gas. Should be ok but to be safe maybe you could email powerchip and ask them if their chips are suitable for dual fuel.
