Hey all , i have the JC's forum number 1 dumb question !!!!

Why the **** cant i do a burnout lol !!!!!!!

i have a VN and a mate and myself wanna try doing some burnouts at our local track/car area , but before we did that we decided to do a few practice runs...ive tried everything , putting into Neutral *auto* and reving the guts out and slamming it into drive .. leaving it in drive...holding the brake and pupming the accelerator...nothin works...she grips the road like glue....*good for drags :P* ...but i wanna see her smoking .... i KNOW its doable in an auto , because i've seen first hand......do any of you smart fellas have any reason WHY my car wont rip its ass ??

    Any soloutions lol

    P.S....so we're clear.....VN Vacationer..Stock engine/trans . AUTO

And It has no trouble goin sideways....but no stand stills

PPS im really new to cars....so dont be too rough lol

First of all, I don't condone burnouts... ..hehe...

But hey, if it is in a controlled area, have you tried holding the brakes, and rather than pumping the accelerator slowly accelerate until your foot is flat to the floor...by then it should be smoking...

If you can't succeed, i can sell you my VN 5 spd calais...hehe...and then you'll be doing em easy...

And remember, be safe and always wear your seatbelt...

    hahhaha

Nuetral then Drive, ****ING GONNA KILL YOUR GEARBOX

Put her in 1st, Hold the brakedown, accelerator up til the back end edges up fully, then off brake then full on accelerator, then back on brake fully, and you back brakes shouldnt lock, therefore yourspinning, Or just foot on brake an accel til it spins. . . .

    Cheers

I can see you having a trip to the trans guys if you keep doing neutral drops

Grab first, bury the accelorator into the firewall and pump the brakes a little, should light up easy

Yeah, Never ever rev her and drop it into drive.Very bad idea.
I can't understand why you car cant arc it up on the spot either....

Do what hozy said, and u dont need a manual to put her in first either (just incase you didnt know). Foot fully on brakes, have her in 1st or drive(most ppl can do either) then slowly accelerate listening to the engine revving higher and higher, the higher she stars to rev the closer to loss of traction should occur. If you have a taco that shows your RPM you should probably start spinning at say 3000RPM. If she cant do this easily then i think you need to get your car looked at or atlast give her a nice service!

    hehehehehe 'neutral bangers'.

    (N + king revs) * Drive = expensive.

what kinda wheels/tyres do you have on the thing?

the theory is, you use the brakes to stop the front wheels from moving, so you need only enough brake to stop the car from moving, no more....

the gas controls how much wheelspin you get, so just keep that mashed till you break traction, then you'll figure it out

yeah you hvae like a 60/40 brake bias use it to your advantage, as above,
however, some "-local car tracks-" are too damn grippy for a stock commodore, you'll find that (on private property of course) an older roads with less traction area will do the job cause good tyres on anear new road you'll have troubles

And if all else fails, pour some oil on the road and place ya back wheels in it then try the foot on...The only bad thing is about this is the mess you get, all under the guards and up the side of your car...But i didnt just suggest that cause if i worked for the EPA i would be in deep sh*#t....

there's always the dodgy suggestion of vice grips clamping shut your flexible brake line (goes between the body of the car and the diff)...

this will disable your back brakes.... with which you should be able to absolutely cook your back tyre(s).

the whole vise grips bit works a treat in the right cars, ive never seen anyone do it on a commo, otherwise get some line lockers, that way you'll only have pressure on the front calipers and the rear brakes will have nothing and it will arc up easy as

Inflate your tyres 20% above what you normally would..

    Chuck oil on the ground..

    Chuck it in 1st..

Play around with accelerator/brake ratio's till you get it right..

Slam on the accelerator maybe, it might prevent the car from going into 2nd gear and having no revs. Like hit the acclerator hard and don't get off it

If all else fails, try it on grass. If you can't pull one on grass, get a new car..

Not to offend anyone in anyway:
I cant Believe so many comm drivers are having issues with burnouts lately? Its not rocket science hey. I have seen about 4 threads in the last few months on people asking how to do a burn out... why??? I would have thought it would be the easiest of things to do in a car. Your saying you can drift sideways no probs but you cant do a stand still? Thats like saying you replace an engine but cant do a service!!!! WTF PEOPLE lets get it together here and maybe come up with a section on .. How to do a burn out in a 1) auto 2) manual and also how to do a service on a 1) vb 2)vc etc etc
    End Rant

manual is like.. two methods (and more if you have weird angled feet)

    [GENTLE METHOD]
    1. gas + clutch, as if you were going to take off.... except more gas, and less clutch....
    2. as soon as the back wheels loose traction, your clutch should be all the way up, and just relocate your clutch foot onto the brake pedal...
    3. rev away, change gears, and repeat

    [BRUTAL METHOD]
    1. clutch in, gas down, rev limiter.
    2. clutch out, brake in.
    3. repeat, then change unis, gearbox, and diff.

hahaha obviously ur cars a lemon! depends on many things, u might have blocked injectors, a series 2 with the bellmouth housing inside that prevent good acceleration, too fatter tyres, running on gas... i cant help u all i no is i have it in drive, brake hard down, then ease on the accelerator till floored and im singleing.. keep it goin and i LS then if im bored ill wack it into first and see if i can chirp 3rd hahaha! i want a shiftkit! i can onli do it with 15" stockys on the bak though so get sum 14's or sumthing.. dont do it on oil.. u will get un-even tread wear and take out massiv chunks!
