When i turn my car on ( not everytime) the engine warning light comes on for about 30secs to a minute then turns off , my friend thinks its just cause the engine has to heat up or a missfunction , it doesnt effect the car it still runs like a dream and i've never had a problem with it , the oil is always full and same with coolant and i get it serviced regulary , anyone know what it is ?

run a diagnostic and tell us what code it comes up with
1995 Manual HSV Clubsport
Wade Cam :: 9.2:1 CR :: Pacemaker headers :: Twin 2.5" Exhaust :: VT Brakes
1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD
more than likely your oxygen sensor
do you have an air flow sensor after your air box?
Airflow meter is in the throttle body. Run a diagnostic test and it will tell you where the problem is. I just fixed mine today. Vacuum hose I forgot to put back on when I put in my big-bore Yella Terra throttle body today.
Diagnostic works good. Needed the Haynes manual to tell me how to do it.
Actually...the VN's didn't have an airflow sensor. They have a manifold air pressure sensor.
Use the search function, there's plenty of threads here that list how to check codes.

1 i dun know how to do a diginostics test lol or how to spell it , 2 theres nothing wrong with the car it just does it for like 30 seconds then turns off and doesnt do it again till i turn the car off leave it and turn it back on
.....went in a vyss the other day **** mmm yummy !

im laying odds that you have extractors, in which case its your oxygen sensor reading. Normal though, mine comes on all the time and its a new 02 sensor put in with the pacemakers.
mine comes on all the time 2 for a min or 2 then goes off at any time while driving (random not just at start up) i did the test and got no error every time 12 i think
mines comeson while driveing i get a code 44 lean fuel or sumthing all you need is a paper clip and you have to find you diagnostic lead its under the passenger side kick panel neer the door then i think im not 100% sure u join the black and white wire to the white i think hopfully someone else will explain better then u turn your car on to accesories and the engine fan should come on and the engine light should flash a code up oh i found the link here you go check this out Checking your Computer for Faults (VN - VP) tell us how you go

firstly welcome to the forum and congrats on a first post epic dig.
do this
Checking your Computer for Faults (VN - VP)
it'll tell you what the fault is.
If you can I'd check for error codes stored in the ECU
The small plug under the glovebox will need to have a wire put into the 2 terminals on 1 end and turn on the ignition. The electric radiator fan will run to tell you its in diagnotic mode and the engine light will flash at you.
code 12 = systems are all good. So it will flash the code 3 times.
There is bound to be many many threads on this forum that will explain the code process in much more detail than me.
This will tell you what area the system fualt will be.
