    Default Bellmouth Gaskets

    ive taken the bellmouth out and was just wondering should i put both gaskets back in or just the one.

    no worries, i normally buy a new one when i do that, but just use the best one of two and make sure bolts done up tight

    Yeah, just use the best looking one out of the two. It was a fun little excersise that belly removal. Good time to clean your TB by hand.

    The VN Series 1 V6 had no bellmouth and only 1 gasket in there.
    If you break a gasket, just trace it onto a bit of cardboard (cereal boxes come in handy here), cut it out and smear light grease on both sides to make an airtight seal. This will do as a temporary fix for any gasket in your air intake.
    I actually put a bellmouth in to my engine, just so it'd run smoother. Worked, no noticeable power loss.

    an idea if you want to keep the car smooth, but get better airflow, is hack up the bellmouth. dad did it for his vr, breathes better and is still smooth.

    cut off the top 90% of the bit that goes into mainfold, leaving the bottom curve there, to retain even airflow, then file out the remaining plastic, so its flush with the sides of the intake, use the elbow for reference.

    i shouldve gotten pics at the time. could probably whip something up in a 3d app sometime.

    I can say that when i removed myne there was a noticable power increase, this is different for all cars tho.

    mine doesnt idle any different. i think it might be the cai that helps that. also i have found it accelerates quicker.
