    Default reving problem

ok i have taken my throttle body and that off to replace the elbow gasket (where the bellmouth was) and put it back to gether.

thats all good intill i start the car and it is reving atleast 500rpm more than it should.

why is this and does anyone have a fix for it.

    cheers,
    jamie

check the alignment of your TPS, if it is out it will rev higher than normal.
Undo the two screws holding it and move it side to side until the revs drop to normal.

try adjusting the throttle cable, losen it off a bit cause it could be tight and holding it open a little

there should be a little screw that moves the throttle plate open at the back of your throttle body...unscrew this right out and see if it helps
BTW the tps switch is the on the bottom of your throttle body

TPS is the black thing on the bottom of the throttle body that is attached to the shaft that the valve sits on.

It is possible that you've split a vac hose, or a gasket and that there is an air leak that's stuffing your idle up.
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.

vacuum leaks drops the idle rpm and makes it run like dogs breakfast... but have you noticed a loud hissing sound???

well if its no loud hissing then its probably not your idle air control.....sooo can you check the throttle plate screw on the back of the T/B??
