Seen it, Done it. To a vn wagon once before.

You need the metal bracker of the stereo surround, vr/vs door trims side vents, column and few switches to do headlights, & cruise control & wipers etc.

Cluster wise, its easiest to stick to VN/VP clusters in a VN/VP, its doable to put a VR/VS one in, when i eventually get around to it, i have a VR police cluster to go in, eventually, its easily doable in a weekend too, just gotta get one and read up on what needs to be done

The differences are minimal cluster wise, different colours and fonts and thats about it

yer im sure they fit.. i hav the level 3 in mine and i just took it out before so that i could paint the surround.. these just have 3 plugs at the back that plug in by themselves when u slide it into the dash.. as far as how your car will respond to the digit setup on it, i dont no i think there might be extra wiring loom on the calais cluster to run the km's and shit thats on the screen.. but the level 3 cluster looks so much better so it would b worth looking into!

Trip computer wont work without the lom and so fourth i am told, there was a romour around a little while back that series 1 VNs ran the same loom from exec to calais and that they would work with th ebuttons, but it was confirmed and then someone said we were wrong. SO basically, you can get it in, and it will work dial wise, but as for the digital read out, it wont work.

i was told by a customer (i work for auto one) that the VN calais dash will fit as long as i have an extra white wiring loom that will be taped to my existing loom, what does the level 3 dash look like?

thats a level 3, a pic ov hozy's i used it hope u dont mind.. i dont think u could convert to level 3 that easy, because where would it keep the memory for the total kms on the odometer? if u installed it on one that has an analog odometer, then it may display 000,000 km's when u install it wouldnt it? unless the car stores it on computer sumwhere and will display it wen u plug the dash in. i dont no so ill shuttup now!

enjoy my new sticky thread! Converting to a VN Calais dash

and no, it will not show 0 km. the odometer readings remain on a chip in the dash cluster itself, not in the ECU, so when my VN with 250k on it had a calais cluster installed, the reading went up to 307k

yer i thought so.. thats what i was tryna say.. that it would be all mixed up and wouldnt get an acurate reading..
um theres ways to do it but im sure its illeagle.. my uncle who will remain nameless was charged with 15 cases of turning back odometers.. he has lost his trading license and was fined a whole lot..

there is a legal way to do it. as long as you have proof of the original kilometres on your car/ original dash

I thought from memory all you had to do was get a stat deck or the like from the poilce when you get it changed back.

You can take them to holden and they can change the k's on em, but like posted above, you have to prove to them how many k's your car had done originally, which may be hard in some cases. The actuall km's are stored in the digital LCD section on an IC which is actually seperate from the guages, you could chase around for the LCD section of a level three dash that has lower k's. Thats what I did. Couldnt warant paying money for 20,000 k's difference.

Am installing VR Calais dash in my VP Ute and put in crash pad but ran out of daylight. Put VP instrument cluster back in (wireing still for VP dash)as used as work car and would wind over but not start. Have not reconected all wiring(fan A/C ect) but the deadman switch is still conected. We were in the process of drilling out pop rivets on switch but did not complete. Would the vibration from drill affected the switch?Any ideas would help.
