    Default Speaker Installment

    Hello,
This weekend I am going to put 6x9's in my back shelf. Though the back shelf hhasnt had any speakers in them before so they are uncut. Is there anything I should consider or know before I hack a hole in my back shelf.
    Thanks

ok it is illegal to cut any part of the metal (it apparently weakens the structure) so make some boxes to lift the 6x9 up a bit so u dont have to cut the metal.
but you can cut the timber mdf or whatever that stuff is

    HAHAHA

Contact a place locally that does engineering certificates And do it that way.. It's cheap as to get a parcel shelf engineered.

there are spot welded holes in the metal of the rear shelf, u knock the metal out as they are ment to be....i put some 6x9s in the sheft with no spacers and they sit on those holes. only prob was i needed to cut part of the speaker metal to slot it in and the speakers are too far back to put the grills on because of the window (they must be ment for 6" lol)

So I can just cut a hole anywhere in the back shelf (within reason) and shove those mothers in... and also in the fron dash i have 4" speakers to put where the stockies were, but these have bigger magnets and dont fit all the way in.. can i rip up that foam looking crap underneath it? thanks

saint matrix, i think you'll find you wont fit much where the stockies went, its better to get 6" splits and put the tweeter where the 4" was, pending on the ones u get you dont have to cut the metal, but i mean wow soo many things are illeagle, how can they all be inforced?? as for getting a shop to put your audio in? do it your self its much cheaper and you get the satisfaction of knowing its DIY =P

I just pulled out the wooden shelf over bit. and on the bit that is high(the sides ussaly) cut out the speaker shape and put the shelf back in and the 6x9s should just sit on it without having to cut out any metal. My 6x9s fit in mine perfect.

Well on the raised part mine just fit in by only a few mil. so i put some sponge in between the magnet and the metal to stop and vibrations. maybe some 6x9s have bigger magnets or something. not to sure
