Has anyone fitted Pacemaker extractors and had any problems? Talking specifically about the V6. . . I recall reading about some people having problems with a knocking sound due to their engine mounts being shot, and it just occurred to me to ask whether there are any other issues I should know about?
I'm getting a set installed in the next month or so, so I figure the more I know about possible problems beforehand, the less heartache I'll have later.
Cheers,
Sam
The only issue I had is that the auto crossmember had to be trim abit because of rubbing which was not a major problem.
I've had no problems for 3-4years when the extractors were fitted to the vn.
if an engine mount is shot it wont be because of the extractors doing it, it might have been a coincidence that the mounts went at the same time but yeh the knocking would have been the mounts as it allows the engine to move more than normal.
THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT
I've fitted pacemakers to my vn 1990 manual v6,no problems there!Just make sure of body floor clearance or you will get a knocking sound, but real easy re-adjusted.
Cheers for the info guys. How easy is it to inspect engine mounts? Could I do it myself? (Given that at the moment I don't even know which part they are...)
im not sure how you can check them without a hoist, but i was watching the mechanic chech mine and he hoisted it up and got a lever and levered the engine side to side to look (hope that makes sense)

yea i know what you mean. maybe, just maybe, i CAN get my car on a hoist. i think they got one here at uni, in one of the workshops
might see if i can use it sometime...
make sure once you get it done a month later you go back to the workshop to get it all tightened and re checked. Most exhaust places will offer to do this for free after installation.
It will be your engine mounts, mine are stuffed and cause the motor to shift and hit the Y piece on the floor on the passanger side.
i got my pacies in about ....7 months ago. they knocked a bit at first when i put it in reverse but havent done that for quite some time now...and i havent touched anything, it just went away. good choice!
jokes..ahahaha i get jokes
had mine fitted on manual VP V6, mechanic needed to bend it a little to clear the floor but havnt had any problems with them at all!

I noticed that on the Pacemaker website their VN V6 extractors (both variants) have only got a 2.25" outlet pipe. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of my 2.5" cat-back??
I installed my V6 pacemakers along with rest of zorst, the only think havent replaced is the cat converter. I have had a knock since installation but i think that may be due to my gearbox oil lines being loose and close to the headers. Other then that they wont on prety smoothly. Apart from me not knowing what the steering knuckle was and how to remove it! It was all done and worked well in the end. Done it on some ramps at a mates house.
Awesome - how long did the install take?? Because if I can get hold of a hoist here at Uni then I'd be happy to give it a go myself...
About a day after multiple drink breaks, food breaks and swearing at the steering arm knuckle.
OK, cheers for that. Maybe I will pay for the installation then . . . probably worth the money
it took me about 5 hours to get my genie extractors on. passenger side no worries, but drivers side, ive never sworn so much, such a bitch, and yeah mine knocks in reverse when it's cold, but it alright after thast
I asked how much fitting was, they said like $300, So i was like 'stuff yooo noob' and done it myself. Just like my gearbox, $400 installation, 'stoof yoo noob' and done it myself.
Hmm. Strikes me as a fair call. It takes me 2 weeks to earn $400 . . .
