Hi, Today was the first time i opened a VN bonnet.I own a VS. Any way i told a mate i would do an engine swap and manual conversion for him. His car got stolen and they threw a rod out of both sides.
I got the motor and tranny out no worries, then when pulling the motor and box out of the doner car something got caught. It was too dark to see but i am assuming the only thing different would be the clutch fork sticking out. Is there enough room for it to come out ? I think it must be catching on the steering arm, the column has to come out so i could take it out first. Any ideas anyone?
Also the doner car has power windows, will they fit in my VS?
Thanks in advance.
u will have to take the sterring column out yes. if ur going auto to manual it will help later too but if its judt tranny and engine swaps, both manual then u will only have to take it out for the engine to come out, also watch the selector on the tranny, it may hit abit on it way out,i had to oxy of the exausts aswell to get the engine out. only cause i wasnt able to undo it as the bolts were rooted
Thanks VN 88. Will take the column out tommorow. I undid the exhaust bolts and took the front pipe off. It amazed me that the bolts undid so easy on both cars.
yeah mine arnt hard but then its a fairly new exaust system
