On this occasion YES use the garden hose , I wash mine with the engine running but not hot so so it keeps going if I get water in something important. I don't wash the V8 because I don't trust water on something so special but the V6 I washed with the hose

You don't want the engine being hot, a little warm maybe. Don't forget to clean u/neath the car you can quite often find small faults that you weren't aware of eg, torn p/steering boots, oil leaks etc..

High pressure water and an engine bay is just a recipe for disaster. If I ever do degrease the engine at one of those car wash joints, I spray the degreaser on, then switch to high pressure BUT I DON'T PULL THE TRIGGER. Having it on high pressure but not using the high pressure gives a really nice fine mist to rinse it all off with.
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.

just attack it and stop being a panzy... lol.. sorry. Just get 2 cans of degreaser and if its really baked on a scrubbing brush and attack at it. Then get the high pressure hose and wshhhhhka its alll gone and its sparkling clean. Just make sure you cover your pod filter if you have on and remember cold water on a hot engine = bye bye engine.

I do mine whenever. A can or 2 of degreaser and I hit it with the high pressure hose at my place, comes up clean as a whistle. If you mop up any spills and marks then she'll stay that way too, mine is spotless.

Never tried it myself. I just grab a can or 2 of that nasty $2 buck degreaser at super cheap, works a charm.
