i went to buy my VS S/C CAI for the VP Calais. I proudly walked in and told him exactly what i wanted, just like you all have on your VN/VP.
The Holden Parts guy though said that there was no way it was gunna fit. I told him that if you poured boiling water or used a hairdryer and slammed the bonnet, then it would work. The Holden Parts guy laughed and said that BS, and the only way to make it fit is to cut a fair chunk out of it, pretty much making it useless.
Now i trust all you guys, but im kinda strapped for cash, and i don't wanna buy something that doesn't fit...
the holden guy is full of bs....ask the hundreds of vn-vp owners who have done this before.
and my bonnet closes?
pfft.
buy it
put it in, then go show holden guy and see if he thinks you're a GENIOUS for being able to get it to fit without major cutting
i hate to burst your bubble, but mine just went right on. No cutting, no melting. Bonnet closes fine.
I had to remould mine slightly.
Thanks guys, thats what i was hoping. What he was saying just didn't sound right. How could you all have done it if it wouldn't fit? And hey if it can fit without moulding, all the better!
Appreciate it![]()
hahaha Holden guy, This shit's funny... Great laugh man
Cheers

fits fine on my vn. at first the bonnet wouldnt shut, so instead of modifying the intake, i had the radiator lowered a couple of centremetres

Some Holden guys can be idiots in the spare parts section. I took the globe and socket from some VZ SS flutes in to Plaza Holden and asked for another one (the guards only came with a globe and socket for one flute) and the guy told me he was 100% sure it wasnt genuine...reckons the genuine one looked nothing like it.
So i went to Metro Holden and sure enough it was exactly the same...it was a genuine part. But then Part 2...the globe and socket was $52 but the entire Lamp which came WITH the globe and socket....was only $33?
what he could be talking about doesnt the lower part of the air box have tobe cut ? that could what he is talking bout as the intake mouth is bigger
Who knows what drugs he's on, at my Holden they even tell you you need to cut the box to the VS shape and maybe heat gun it![]()
lol, your dealership rocks! I learned a while back that dealership service/parts departments are shit. Thats the only word for the ones in Canberra anyway. It's just crazy, a while back a mate had his cat converter die. After a bit of scouting around, we found that he could either pay the dealership $600Originally Posted by foammedia

But yeah off topic, my point being, theres a fair point that holden dealer types may have absolutely no clue. Mr_Slim, I reccomend you go back, slap the dude and say this: "goddammit boy! I told you I wanted a VS S/C V6 CAI! I have a shotgun, a shovel and 30 acres out tha back, do not trifle with me!"
Your mate got lucky with the quote from Holden for the Cat. They quoted me about $900 to supply and fit. I didn't even bother masking my disgust when I politely asked "Are you ****ing kidding me?" right in the middle of the service department.
Anyway, back on topic...the only way you'll ever get the right part out of them is to tell them what you want, that you KNOW what you want, and they don't know what you want.
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.
Lol, damn straight, tell em what you want, and you want it now! Actually for most things I wouldn't bother, I'd just go to the local wrecker and tell them what I want, have a bit of a yarn with the crazy old bloke who runs the place and wander off hapily having gotten the part I wanted at a reasonable price. The CAI is a part that would probably most easily be gotten from holden though.Originally Posted by mouce
Oh, and I didn't mention, but my mate with the Cat was actually driving a Ford, but yeah seriously freaked me out, 600 bucks? I was a bit more restrained than you, I just told 'em we were gonna go across the road and check out their prices, oh and we most likely weren't coming back, lol. But damn I hate dealership parts departments, wtf? they like want to make how much profit off the average joe with a worn out zorst?
Yeah my holden is cool, most of the parts are cheap from Holden I've found, mostly cheaper than aftermarket! hoses and suspension rubber for example are much better and cheaper at Holden. But some things cost heaps like brake rotors and in that case my Holden says "wooooooah! better go aftermarket for those"
good stuff, I think I like your holden dudes. Shame it's too much of a drive to head down there for my service materials. :-) Besides which, Rip Every Poor C*&t Off aren't too bad really.
Ummmmm hate to burst your bubble but that isnt the L67 CAI, thats the V8 one champ.Originally Posted by FadeToBlack

Selling FG G6E Turbo and buying a N/A Supra
Holden guy said the same thing to me no wont fit, Theres a guy on ebay that sells them and if your local will fit it for free, I'm thinking about that.
Problem is the holden parts guys think they know it all when they should just sell the parts.
It's not like he asked for alloytech camshafts for his Buick V6 lol.

So much for Holden dudes and their know it all attitude! Most people on here could run rings around 'em
I can't find my invoice but I did ask for the s/c v6 one...guess I shouldn't rely on holden spare parts to actually give me the right part. Is there any difference apart from the smaller mouth on the V6 one?Originally Posted by AirStrike
Yep his right check out ebay VP Cold air and they have the V6 and V8 on there. Never trust a holden parts man. I went in there for the elbow of the air intake they had it delivered the next day, But when i went to pick it up guess what it wasn't there tomorrow they said, Funny how no-one rang to tell me![]()
