Exclamation fuel pump repair help needed

I am going to be changing my fuel pump in my VN and would like some help please, does anyone have a copy of a workshop manual with information on changing fuel pumps that they could scan for me, I cannot afford to buy a manual and would like to have this information handy so I don't screw up.
    Cheers
    Cass

hahaha my expertise! I've done so many of these...

That'll teach me for my "pffffffft, EMPTY?, we've still got like 60 k's left!"

There's a whole sender/fuel pump unit in your fuel tank, it's kinda just behind the diff, on the drivers side of the car.

you might want to jack that corner of the car up and chuck it on stands.

the sender is the round plate looking thing in the fuel tank
disconnect the fuel lines and plugs going into/out of it, then there's a few I think 7mm bolts holding the whole sender unit in

undo all of them, watch the cork gasket (might be worthwhile getting a new one)

pull the whole assembly out, while twisting it and turning it to get it out - watch so that you don't hook anything on the inside of the tank as you're pulling it out, because you don't want stuff falling off...

some bits may be a sh!t to pull out, but just wiggle around and you'll be laughing.

It might be worthwhile mentioning at this point that if you have more than 1/8th of a tank of petrol at the moment, you'll be soaking in the stuf unless you drain it.

you'll see the pump at the end of the sender unit once it's all out

pop old one out, new one in, clean filter

and installation is reverse of removal

If you disconnect the battery you will.

^^^damn straight, can't work on a car without music or beer. Might as well listen to the sound system in the car. The only time I've ever had to disconnect it was when I was re doing the loom to the head unit and when I replaced the battery. Otherwise, I keep it connected if I possibly can.

There is no harm in disconnecting the battery in your car. I have done it quite a lot, especially when doing modifications, but its not needed. What you need to remember is to let the pump prime for about 10secs after you have finished installing it, and than start your engine.

Oh, just on a special note... Take CAREFUL notice of exactly how you have to turn and pull the fuel pump unit to get it out... even write it down. Because otherwise you'll be under there for an hour screaming at the ****er 'cause it won't go back in
