I have a dead VN with a brand spanking new windscreen, and my girlfriend's mother has a VP with a very cracked up windscreen. Now seeing as the VN is going direct to wreckers soon, can I take off the windscreen and transplant it into the VP? I'm assuming they are the same size and shape, as it's essentially the same chassis. Can anybody confirm this, and perhaps give me an idea on how to remove and install windscreens? I can do most stuff with the mechanical side of a car, but the cosmetic stuff is beyond me.
im pretty sure that it should fit....not to sure but think they do

Isn't an easy job, even worse if you tried to do it with one person..
Cheers, Gaz
good luck getting out in one piece
ok this is very simple but very hard.. lol.. ok they will fit. To get them out get a spray bottle with soapy water get the car and with a snap blade knife (stanly knife that can bend nad brake $2 for a pack of 10 at cray clarks) Then spray the sicerflex wit hthe soapy water in a piece easy to work with. Take your time and do a small piece at a time. There is no guartee that it wont brake but ive been told by a profffesional this is the easiest way to do it without there tools. Ive succesfully done it to a rear vs window. But i cracked the front one. But that was because i tryed other things first and chipped a small piece.
Do still the windscreen in go grab a thingo of sikerflex (spelling) black gooy stuff. You might need 2. I havent stuck one back in but i watched a professional do it to my car. Once you put a heap of black gooy crap on the CLEANED steal of the windscreen frame bit shove the windscreen back on and push firmly then leave it for atleast an hour o 2 before driving. OGHHHH you might have to put the black rubber that goes around the glass on before you push the screen on or you will prob never get it on.. lol
I hope that helped
Sounds difficult. Would I be able to have a windscreen installer do it for me?
yeah would probably cost about 150 buck i recon. its not that much effort trust me. Just gotta take a bit of precations to make sure you dont crack it
The other thing would be to take the good one out first just incase you do brake it cause if you take the other one out first and then brake the good one taking it out your buggered

Given the difficulty of the job and that the windscreen is a structural part of the car, even without bouncing airbags off it, I'd go that route.
Ring Obrien's for a quote & work out from there if really worth it..
my local bloke charges 199 installed
199???? for a new screen and fitting or just fitting no supply.. he he mine cost nothing. Gotta love having windscreen cover. Thats something to always look into cuase alot of people dont realise that there insurance covers it somtimes
