THought i mite start this thread to see what people thought was a better spring.
I have to agree, going from Lovells to King Springs SuperLows in the rear of my car, the handling dropped off. Living in the adelaide hills i have a pretty twisty road that i travel every day and i really noticed the difference.
is there much difference in price
yea this one thread would be a good one cause i want to know what to get for my vn cause im wanting new springs soon

I have no idea on price, i got lovells from ebay for the full set. But you cant beat the handling of a lovells spring, the king springs are something for looks, not handling at all. They sit lower than the equivilant lovells springs
Hey doctor sodways, are your Lovells variable rate or linear rate? Because that could also have an impact.
Alot of people buy linear rate springs, but variable rate provides much better handling.
oh and I think King Springs call it progressive rate not variable rate...
No clue at all, for the price i paid i wasnt phased that much. I run short stroke shocks all round, those coupled to the springs make it handle awesomly for what it is
Ah ok.... linear rate are springs that have equal distance between each coil.
Progressive rate and variable rate springs start small and get larger....its quite considerably large differences in gaps so its not too hard to tell.
But its dark outside, and its cold, and im inside, and its warm, maybe ill check tomorrow!!! But seriously, ill have a look tomorrow, you got me interested
lol ok...I know the feeling of it being cold outside. I was just out putting everything back after trying to clean the plug for my fan speed resistor. In Gumeracha its friggin freezing...and i had to wash my hands when i came inside and our hot water tap aint working. My hands are actually in serious pain because they are so cold.
Factory FE2 are progressive on the rear, but I still don't know which company supplies them to Holden
lovells definately for handling. it usually depends on where you get them from. some places charge about $80 a spring. whereas i get mine for $130.00 for the full set.
I prefer kings... They've always made all my families rides sit right
Cheers

Hozy, the King gear makes the cars sit lower, but teh lovells drive better. Ive driven a commo that had kings in it all round, then got them changed to lovells, and damn the thing handled better and rode better. But for looks, cant go past kings
They should being that they are lower and stiffer. The kings will gove you a very harsh ride compared to the FE2 but it will handle better. Lovells give you the handling without so much of the harshness. It will still be harsher than the FE2 being that the springs are stiffer, but the kings should outhandle the FE2
I prefer a solid ride, That way i can tell if I got a problem.......

Lovells Super Lows are 65mm lower than stock? I woulda thought that is considerably lower than the King Springs version? There are also Lovells Extra Super Lows which are their version of UltraLows...only normally found on VS, rare to find ones to suit VN like in my car.
Interesting, ive always found the kings to be lower than the lovells equivalent, but the lovells handled better and wernt as harsh. Ah well, each to their own in preference
