    Exclamation winding odometer FORWARD

I have an issue. I have a reconditioned speedo unit to go into my VN as my old odometer stopped working. The odometer on the reco unit had been calibrated to 380,000 km, which is what my old one read when it stopped. Unfortunately, whilst a little intoxicated, a mate decided it'd be a good idea to wind it back 200,000 km. Not sure what he did but he used a pen or something similar (foggy memories of that night...). I like my 390,000 km and i want them back. Any ideas??

Really stuck on this one. I'm fiddling with it as I write this.
I think he just forced that cog (the leftmost number) to skip teeth, if you know what I mean... unless there's another way....

    SOMEONE HELP ME OUT PLEASE

If all he used was a pen then yeah...he would have just pushed that cog sideways and spun the wheel by hand.

bush_basha, this is true, but i'll find out in the next couple of days...

and AussieHolden, the reason i wanted to wind it forward again is because i'm not looking to sell the car and i like to brag about how many kms the old holden V6 has done.

That's a valid point, it's kinda nice to know that after almost 400,000km the old Buick V6 engine can still beat the crap out of most stock spec cars on Australian roads. Pull it up next to a little rice burner that's due for a rebuild after only 200,000 and smoke it...god that's a good feeling.

true that. having said that my mate shat all over my VN a couple of nights ago. In his ASTRA!! A newer astra, but even so - damn! It took me until about 70-80 kph to go past. I didn't wind up for the launch or anything though. Still, it made me think about the power output of the old V6 and rekindled my thoughts of a 5L (or 6L...) transplant.

Ideas. Too many of them. I'm sure you all know how it is - you want everything at once. Stereo (subs and amps), suspension, SS kit and respray (colour?), Calais interior, Pacemakers, the list goes on......
