Default VN Engine Swap - Workshop Manual

    Hey Guys,

Im new to these forums, but ive just picked up a wrecked VN commodore with a good motor and gearbox, and want to put these into my current VN Commodore.
Can anyone provide me with any hints/tips? Also, any chance anyone has a workshop manual for a VN, that they could scan the pages from that might give me some advise and send to me?

    Thanks.

i did a simular swap myself. now are both motors them same i.e s1 or s2, other wise your gunna have to change alot more shit.
just drain all your fluids including from the box, get your air con gas removed, unbolt everytrhing attached to motor, i.e fuel lines heater lines coolant lines etc. go under the passanger kick panel and unclip the wiring from the computer, then yank throuhg firewall and lay on top of motor, remove an shroud and radiator (2 clips for radiator). now when everythin is uinbolted, jump under thew car and undo the 4 bolts holding the tail shaft onto the diff, the drop the tail shaft, next undo centre bearing mount and then slide tail shaft out of the diff. Now unbolt your exhaust at the manifolds, if you cant reach the manifolds undo it at the cat. now unbolt linkage from auto, pus take off speed sensor and their is another sensor unclip it all. Now support the auto and undo the corssmember, make sure it's well upported cause it will drop violently. Now position your engine hoist above the motor, and hook it on to 2 places (factory engine lifting brackets) (clylinder 2 and cylinder 5) now jack up the engine a little bit so a bit of strain has been taken off the mounts, now undo the mounts (19mm X 4) and slowly edge the motor and box out of the car, you may need a friend to stand on the tranny when removing and installing to clear the firewall, and there ya go pretty simple

    a couple of things
Your gunna need a big bag of rags,
this is a really really messy job, you playing with dirt and grime thats 16 years old
It is realativly easy but you can run into gremlins
i cant emphisis enouhg,m that the motor your about to put in, make sure you completely drain all fluids (oil, coolant, trans/steering(dexron111)) and replace with new aswell as a new filtewr and gasket for th auto and new filter for oil, plus flush your radiator while it's off the car
and you may aswell clean up your engine bay abit

i just did 1 another way. i uncliped all the wireing from the motor. I left the wireing that goes to the starter.unbolt the exhaust y piece and remove it. if its a manual take the passengers exhaust manifold off. i undid one power steering pump hoses at the pump and the other at the rack.do the rest like csl said.
