You'll find that the speed sensitive steering rack doesn't fit with the clutch cable. Get a new steering rack unfortunately.

You'll need a new console obviously. No VQ's were manual, so therefore no manual console. Very hard to track down a manual Calais console also. I used the console from my S-Pac manual, cut holes in it for the power windows, and then glued the buttons on the top. Can't notice a difference at all

But apart from that, there was no issues in my conversion

I want to do this to my 5L Calais.

Are you sure about the rack? I emailed Mal Wood and he mentioned no problems with the rack. My speed sensitive solenoid in the rack is stuffed so I might hold off getting it fixed if I need a new rack anyway.

There are two slightly different types of consoles. My Calais has the one where there is an extra trim piece that goes around the stereo area. Is there any manual insert for this type of console???

When i had mine done, i did have a problem with the clutch cable wearing a hole thru the power steering line, although i just got a hose with a different bend in it.

You'll need a Wagon tail shaft, or a custom Tailshaft, as the Stato is a LWB car, as are wagons.

Now for the console, all i could find that was leather was a senator 6 speed console out of a VS, although it sits a little to the left, it still works fine with the 5 speed. I only found a grey one, but i sprayed it black, and not a single person can tell the difference. For the stato, you'll have to get one the same (assuming they fit, i've never taken much notice of a stato's console) or get custom.

heres a pic of the manual console in

Well thats the same type of console in the pic as mine.

Might go down to Holden and ask if there is a manual insert available.

yeah its a bit divided on the situation hey. Stealthy - looks like you got the problem but got around it (i wish i had done that) but when i got it done, the mechanic rang Holden (oh... those geniuses) and they said it would be fine. Alas, when he goes to do it, it can't be done (just the same as the friendly Holden men who have said the flywheel is the same between VN and VP, and that a VS CAI won't fit a VP....)

So yeah check around, i've been told you can't, but stealthy has obviously done it
