Hey All...im trying out new things on the VN this week....when the idea of chopping/changing taillights from a VR/VS came to fruit....the things i need to know
Electrical.:::::is the wiring ect gonna be pretty much the same from the VN to VR/VS ??
:::::::::::::: * Will the Voltage ect be the same ...
Body .
Should we use fibreglass or bog...*or could you suggest a different material
How freakin hard is this gonna be lol...
I look forward to the Rants, Raves,Taunts....but hopefully theres some good replies out there ...

Ok, you like making things hard for yourself dont you?
Wiring can be adapted. USE METAL, not too much bog and no glass. Metal expands, bog and glass do not. Snap, crackle, pop.
Yes it will be hard but anything can be done if you put your mind to it.
Good luck with it, I would love to see the results if you do do it.
Hope I could be of assistance.
Steve.
wow mate you ahve a bit of work ahead of ya. but it will be unique once you have finished it.
are you looking to do it with stock vs lights or the altezza things they got out these days
I know its gonna be tough..
so i decided to , rather than kill my only car ...buy a ****ed rear end from UPull It...and practice on thatthat way im not ****in my car up lol
Dude..in regards to tail lights...im really torn...cos i love the whole deep tint look , but i've seen those altezzas....and they look mighty fine too !!
ill keep ya posted Boys![]()
i have seen people cut the rear out of a doner car and weld it into the new one. if the side profiles are nearly the same it should be a straitforward job
you should do a VR/VS front end conversion too :|
Why not just buy a VR......Originally Posted by geta

why not buy a VR and put a VN front on... much easier?
d/w geta sarcasm is easily lost on here. What type of garnish are you going to have with the vr/s lights?
Because he wants to do something unique. Better than the average. He has an idea so show support and help.Originally Posted by geta
He wants a VR rear, fine... a lot of mucking about.. welding etc to do it.. why not just get a VR and put a VN front end on... at least then its more of a bolt-up job and you get teh same results
maybe he likes his vn.. wouldnt be that hard to do. All the parts would weld up. just be a bit of a pain i recon
Interesting choice. I personally prefer a tinted VP Calais rear-end to the VN or VR. But the VR lights on a VN shaped boot... that would be... abstract. Good luck with it ^^ I love your spirit.
a idea i was thinking of at one stage was 427 monaro lights made to fit the vp. that would be different
Cheers
Cheers for all the replies..has made my decision easier...im gonna go for it
To all the guys talking about conversions...bear in mind..im only swapping lights...not the whole back end ... in regards to the garnish....ill smooth it out and colour match it at a later date when cars is re-painted ..
this is a custom job...and its gonna suck ass...make me scream and kick the shit out of anyone near by..but at the end of the day...my VN will be a one of a kind...maybe lol so keep everything crossed for me lol

won't it look weird?! lol JUST BUY A VR/VS Ok??? they're not expensive now, specially VR
Ah, nothing like a Datsun 120 WHY!
The best way would be to buy a VR rear end with a boot & cut in the tail light mouldings.Originally Posted by JunyaVn
umm if i think what your thinking off then thats not such a good idea, i dont know if you've noticed but the rear end is a part of the chassis, the boot lid would work altho being slightly diffrent (bigger or smaller i cant remembeR)Originally Posted by TazmanCrash
