hi i own a vp ex chaser and i was just wondering if anyone know if the used the hsv motor or not.And if they did how do u tell the difference.
thanks brendan
no, they did not use a hsv engine...or anything else like that.
the bt1 is basically a normal commodore with a few little tweaks to electrics, a sump guard and different speedo...thats it, i think
i'm gessing its a v8. the main difference between the motors are extractors and chip and maybe a slight cam but i dont think they have a better cam(ss and hsv) and no i dont think it would be a hsv motor i may be wrong tho. that doesnt mean its a dud tho the motors are almost the same and if ur willing to do work on it it will end up better.
apparently some of the chasers did have quite a bit on a stocky a mate had one he says it dynoed at 250kw but i neva say the charts so i dont know i belive it.
There was a massive thread on here a while back, and at the risk of opening up a can of worms again, there was no cop chip for the VN/VP commodores to the best of my knowledge. Other members on here, who have been working with VN/VP memcals for a long time have said the same thing too.Originally Posted by nathans1987

i was saying for a hsv motor he thinks it might be a hsv one they have a better chip than a ss
yeah its hard to say for sure but a mate has a std vp ss and mine pulls alot harder than his but who is to say it hasnt had engine work done on it
but what from what info i can find there are 2 different spec bt1's one on an exec and the other on a ss
Ah...okay...sorry Nathan. Wasn't having a go at you over the HSV side of things, I'm pretty sure those guys did have a different chip.
