    Default VN vs VL

my mate has a vl (manual) and we had a drag off the other day out on this property and i killed it.is this normal as i was in front but 3/4 car length at 60k's gap extending. also while driving i noticed he was very sluggish at rolling start accel as well.

you forgot to mention whether this vl manual is an v6,v6 turbo,v8??...that would help to answer your question.
i believe your car is a v6 (if i remember correctly)...so it would definately give any vl, except a turbo, a good run.

VL's are substantially slower than a vn, manual, auto, v8 whatever you want (except turbo) the stock turbo is a little bit faster than a VN V6 (say half a second on the 1/4) but should be 50/50 to 100

Does anyone here know exactly why the VL is so slow offline? Is it just their lack of torque? I would think power to weight is about even with a VN as they weigh less...And the 3.45 diff gears should help a bit shouldnt they?

The vl isn't much lighter and the motor's much smaller and less powerful, it all add up to slower, but that said they are faster than a vb-vk 202 : ) although the efi vk might give a vl a very good run for his money
