Ok, there are a lot of people out there whom have changed their original dash lights to led lights. This looks great, but I have gone the next best step. I have designed my dash with led's that change color, from Red, Blue or Green.
I can send the schematics if any one wants to do this for themselves, or if anyone lives near Ipswich, you can bring your dash to my fathers auto electrical shop and I can do it for you at a cost.
PS: System is setup to do Turqois as well, but just waiting on the right Transistor for the job. Hope you's like!!!!!

Yeah or the yellowish brown coloured ones too.
Look out for this post soon, cause the dash will be undergoing a full graphical design and I can include instructions on how to make your own face plates without having to pay heaps of money for premade ones.
Its not that hard, just requires a bit of thinking....
I LOVE MY HOLDEN!!!
hehe I had RGB led's ... There in my bro's car now, I preferred the brightness of my 11k mcd's..
Dude if you want I can help you with a potentiometer an you can get about 40 more colors if you want...

Would like to know about this potentiometer and exactly how it works.
Not really keen on 40 colours, but wouldnt mind a few more like yellow, white, purple, etc. etc.
You know the color spectrum, Consists of Red Green Blue, The potentiometer mixed with a few transistors an an ic, you can make it so you turn it, another name for a potentiometer is a pot... You turn it an it will adjust colors an frequency's an create a color change.

All I would have to do is just wire that up there and all should be gravey, but one thing mat, I am thinking that if it messess with the frequencies than I should be able to get white light as well, what do you think, after all whit light is red, blue and green..
Dunno about white, never thought of that........ Hmmmmmmmm fark awesome ideas.........
Cop pegs ya for blue parkers, you switch it, he looks at them an goes, oh sorry, on your way......

Sorry when are you going to put up how to make the face plate?

VN Wagon,
Prob next week sometime but its not really hard at all. If you have a computer , a scanner , decent printer and some high quality glossy papaer and a PhotoCopying store (if you decide to be more complex and make it using layered overhead transparency sheets.
Have a look here,
I Like My Vn
there are some pics, see what you think, will put up a full how to this week end coming!!!
keep up the good work, looks mad
Illegitimi Non Carborundum
yeh goodwork, also the parkers idea is a good one.
THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT
looks sweet,
did you use 2 LEDs for each screen?
no, its actually 3 LCD screens in the dash with 4 lights standard, all I done was replace the 4 standard lights and wired in 4 RGB LED's using the old bulb plastic mounts (a bit of drilling them to get the 4 legs of the RGB LED in) and hook it to a switch and woooohooooooo.
PS: Obviously there are other things like filing down the head of the leds flat so they fit and so the light spreads more.
cheers,
do you have any pics of the LED and resistor soldered in place?
can do , next time i pull the dash out I will take some pics of it, probably tomorrow..
yeah, ok, i will pull it out and take it apart AGAIN and take some pics (Just hate doing it as the plastic holder for the lcd's gets very hard over the years from the Aussie sun, and it breaks easily) but will do it just to show yas
Looks good man.
Ok, I have done up a Do It Yourself guide on the LED light mod for your dash. I will post the guage face mod guide in a couple of days as well so stay tuned for that!!
ENJOY!
Da Kidd!
awesome. might do this to mine. thanks for the write up

Oh yeah, by the way, I forgot to mention what the liquid chrome paint is for, its used to paint the inside of the LCD screen holder, so as to help reflect the LED lights better, its not essential, but its something I did anyway.
