My car (Vp commodore s bt1) has been good to me over the couple of years i have owned it, but it seems every time i go to start her now she struggles for a sec, then idles a bit odd moving between 600 - 1000revs. Apparently may just need a tune-up i heard?
Any input or help on this topic would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
well, i dont really know what you mean by "tune-up"...but id say to give your vp a service.
when was the last time it was serviced? in particular, how old are your spark plugs, leads and fuel filter?
replacing these will likely make it run better and fix your problem.
remove pipe from air cleaner to throttle body and clean throttle body with carbi clean around butteryfly , this will cause flutaning idle, use caution around stepper motor, put on rag not directly on metal section, also as sircruisealot pointed out with service items, also change fuel filter
its probably better to take out the throttle body and clean it, so u can give the IAC vlave a clean aswell... it also may be part of your problem
Thanks guys! Clean my throttle body on my next day off. 6 days away arg! Last service was 7800km ago, so due about now. spark plugs about 1 tear old, as for leads and fuelfilter, not sure on that one!
Cheers
well there you go...the fuel filter it probably stuggling to let any fuel through its so clogged up...its not like its expensive or hard to do either man, like $15 for a filter and two small clamps to undo to change it over.Originally Posted by MoNoXiDE
