Hi guys", I am new to this site and I hop I am using this site correctly. I have a problem with my VN commodore fuel guage, when I fill the tank up", it only indicates that it is 3/4 full. I am worried that one day I may run out of fuel when the guage gets low because I don't truly know the correct reading, I don't think it is the 3 pin 5 volt voltage regulator either because I have soldered it allready but at least now the temp guage is working all the time. can you help me with this. I was thinking it could be the sender that is the problem.
regards commodorevn
it could just be a shitty fuel gauge. If I fill my tank completely it goes about a quarter of a tank ABOVE full. And when it hits empty I know I've still got about 15L left in it.
The safest way to deal with fuel gauges is to ignore them. I fill my car at about 300km. That way I know I've still got about 150-200km in the tank (around town).
Work out your fuel usage, and just reset the trip meter each time you fill up. It's not perfect, but it's normally a whole lot more accurate than the gauge.
