Dash probably isn't a straight bolt up but roof lining, door trims, etc should just swap over

front door trims wont swap straight over because they have air-con vents on them.

Just a thought.... the dash electrics probably would'nt work with the VN memcal... someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think so. So it could be that the speedo/fueal gauge could be a problem. I have thought over doing the same thing... but I reckon the VN dash actually doesnt look that bad...

na i already have a vs cluster in my vn i want to put the whole dash and trim in. and i was looking thro the net to find out if it would fit and someone has already done it which is good it means it can be done.

    http://gallery.oldholden.com/hemipoweredvk/vn+project/

now i'm hopeing that not much modification is needed but from what i can see the mounting brackets are the same or at least similar but all the electrics will likley need rewiring but i know nothing for sure yet.

I have a VN wagon and it now has a complete VS interior

    A few points to mention

i left the VN wiring harness complete to make it easier

the heater box is the VN one

the vents to operate the screen dimister were part of the old dash so had to i create some new cardboard ones to pass the WRC

Front wipers, ok. behind the little twisty switch for the wipers is a circut board that has the little relay and capaitior to do INT operation and to make the wipers finish their run when you tund them off, in the VS system, there are 7 or 8 (i can't remember) wires coming out of the stalk that must go to the body controll module or something. what needs to happen is to solder those wires onto the circut board in the right spot, i can help you with that.

oh yeah the light switch is different, i turn the switch to P or lights for evrything except the headlights and have a seperate switch for those

to fix the dash in place, i drilled 5 new holes to bold it in, thats pretty easy.

instrument illumination, to make all the lights work you have to incorporate the other half of the wiper circut board that has the resistor in it for the dimmer operation

    rant nearly over

door cards go in the same, just drill new holes for the speaker pods and to secure the bottom of the dorr card

seatbelts, the stalks are different but if you change the whole inertia reel it will work.

instrument cluster, i used the VN one, but if you dont like the green, the backgrounds are the same and swap.

so basically the hardest part is the wiring but i can help you with that.
it took around 3 days to swap everything and another 5-6 hours rewiring

hope that helps, i want to see another one.

thanks wayno55 i got to get my hands on a trim then i will get back to you about the wiring.

the vents to operate the screen dimister were part of the old dash so had to i create some new cardboard ones to pass the WRC

Can be done. The VS has the same basic body shell. So all the parts line up. The wiring can be a bit hard. Cose you will need a VS fuse box aswell. Then theres the BCM to deal with.

spose you could, it was a bit of a shitfight to get everything in and i managed to leave out/forget about that vent, the carboard was a quick fix.

although, i think there may not be enough room for the vent to fit, it was a pretty tight fit.

i didn't use the VS fuse box. the VN wiring harness is intact, it only needs some extensions

the BCM is the body control module, it basically operates everything the ECU doesen't, to make it easier i used the VN one but that brings up the problem of the wipers

anyway, here are the photos, these show the new bolts at the top, the gap for the screen demist, the carboard vents and the wiper wiring

thats mine lol, its not a straight forward swap as i thought as even the steering wheel for the vs wont sit right without customising the rack.

then theres all the differences in the electrics. i made it easier by running a full vr loom with all the factory switches and bcm, so i have all the factory goodies of a vr calais but in a vn wagon.
if u wanna ask me direct questions u can email me @ hz308ute(at)westnet(dot)com(dot)au also my whole wagon is for sale complete or wreck. its in the sale section.

thanks for you help. would it be possible for me to change over the bcm etc. if i did that would i have to use vr/vs lights wipers demister? if not do the vn electronics just plug into it eg lights wipers demister.
also does the heater unit of a vr/vs fit in without modification?(as i need a new one anyway)

what modification does the wheel neet to go on?

when i thought of this it was just meant to be a quick fix for the bad trim my car has(and 90% of other vn/vps). haha! but i still want to do it if i can get the trim cheap.

to to it properly as i did and have everything wired up, set up and working it took me about 4 weeks spending 4-5 ours a day on it for the first 2 weeks then a few hours after work.
thing i found out with different holden models is that nothing is compatible with out modification lol. i started off using the vn loom but the troubl of rewireing all the switches, was easier to just upgrade all the wiring to vr as i needed a new motor so i upgraded to a vr motor and box
either way u go it going to need some mods. the vr heater box will bolt straight in no mods needed.
depends what u wanna do if u want all the goodies from the vr with central locking, keyless entry, auto headlights, and plug'n'pay power pack, then i'd recommend uprading the wiring loom to the vr while u have the dash out already, or just buy all the stuff need from me lol. i made my steering rack from a vs top and vn bottom, then every thing fits and i have tilt'n'reach as the actual housing where everything bolts to behing the wheel is different and the vr\s stuff wont fit and if ya use vn with the vs wheel it wont cover the back of the wheel and will look poxy.

i am doing it cheap so i wont bother(altho if i end up getting a wreck from the auctions then i might) with power windows central locking etc. but i dont mind changing over the whole bcm and wiring harness, how much will i have to cahnge if i do what can i keep? will i have to use the light harnes from a vr/vs etc.
