this may sound dumb but does the manual v6 fit in to a auto v8 if so wat other bits do i need. how long would it take to do the conversion
save ur self from blowing ur gear box and get a t5 for a v8, they have different ratio and are better. more out of first ect. but be carefull the t5 in v8's are at the strength peak. to much force or if u do ur 8 up much more then stock and ull be going through manuals like u do underwear. as for everything else u need just look for conversion threads and it should state wat u need.
as for time it depends how good u are with a spanner. it took me 2 - 3 days for my 6. and im good with a spanner.
then what would you recondmend. what will be strong enough and wont give me any headaches. also wat price are the t5 going for.
i would recomend a stage 3 or 4 shift kit auto. auto's are stronger in a way then the manual but im sure many people will argue with me about this. but ive gone from auto to manual and blew my manual in the first month were i had the auto for over a year. all in the same car. if u wanted a v8 tf kit its around 1500- 3000 sepending on the company u buy from. just the t5 would be about 400 - 800. or buy an old v8 thats going cheap in manual. hard but better
Stage 4 shift kit?
thanks guys. also i dont know if this is true but i have herd that converting my car to a manual i will get better fuel ecomony and a bit of extra power. is this true. if so is it a big difference
stage 4 shift kit? wtf
i though there was only stage 1-2
stage 4 going by the company i was looking at. dont no there name i just searched. going by these guys 1 - 2 is semi race and 3 - 4 are pure race were that if u dont shift u will stall.
as for power the answer is no. maybe more torque but only cause of the gear ratio. and fuel econemy im still trying to decide. i got 800 per tank on my way to qld. so far im only getting 600's and im trying to decide why.
Got a link? All i've ever heard of stage 1-3, 3 being fully manualised.
Theres absolutly nothing wrong with a T5 behind a V8. I've towed my boat(1.2 tonnes)with one for years and not had any problems. The only thing that hurts manuals is dildos that sidestep the clutch at every set of lights. The V6 T5s have a different Input shaft and bellhousing to the V8 ones, also the gear ratios are different, but stregnthwise the're the same. An other option is a Supra 5 speed they are good for around 300hp, are pretty cheap and easier to come by than T5s.Originally Posted by MRVPCalais
in B&M they have 1 thru 3, but 3 comes in auto or manual. i've got a stage 3 auto, chirps up and down into second. although the B&M website is mysteriously devoid of any stage 3Originally Posted by FadeToBlack
According to the workshop manual, the manual is slightly more economical than th auto. Not enough to decide between the two! Slightly more power is also an advantage. I went for the manual because if i wanted an auto,i would have bought the statesman.
