Default AU Injectors in a VN

I dont know if this is true or not but i got told by a bloke that Ford au injectors fit into the VN.As i said dont know if it's true but apparently the au injectors are just a little bigger than the vn ones which lets a little more fuel through.Just enough for the car to perform better has any one else heard this ?.

they are both bosch i know that for sure but ford has a completely different fuel rail system to holden and very highly doubt it will just "bolt on" to the holden fuel rail...

    Ok they may fit, but from what I can find , the ford injector is 0280 155 844 and flows 14.3 lbs/hr or 150 cc/min , whereas the VN is a 0280 150 901 and flows 18.55lbs/hr or 195cc/min.
So the AU one would be way down in flow rate. Might be good for economy.

If you are going to try any injector, check the resistance of the terminals, the distance between O-rings and the diameter of the O ring, as the injector is a push fit into the rails as long as the dimensions are similar it should fit, but I dont think I'd be using the Ford ones.

Others on here have suggested the later commodore model injectors .
    The VS is a 0280 150 973 and flows 18.65lb/hr or 196cc/min.
    The VS supercharged is a 0280 155 868 and flows 34.5 or 362.6
    VT and later std is 0280 155 777 and flows 14.25 or 149 cc/min.

EDIT** The VR injectors are 0280 150 960 and flow 18.25lbs/hr or 191.8 cc/min so for you a VN injector would flow more, at peak flow rates.

I know there's a lot more to it than just this , but I have tried the VS ones in mine and unfortunately I had 4 blocked ones , so I don't know whether they were better. The flow rates are up a bit and they looked like a better injector, Im going to get an ultrasonic cleaner and see if I can clear them out.

So from the looks of it the ford au would be a fair swap maybe for a later commodore but not for a VN/VP/VR.

from what i remember, EA to ED's ran 19lbs/hr with a 250kpa reg, EF-EL's also ran 19lbs/hr but with a 275kpa fuel reg, and the AU's ran 21 (or 24, i forget)lbs/hr but went back to a 250kpa fuel reg. I believe they flow the same as bosch blue tops but with a different ressistance. Not sure if they'll fit the V6 fuel rails tho...

there is a little thing called air/fuel ratio that needs to be maintained. you can't just dump more fuel in and expect it to go harder.

if you've tuned your VN to suck enough extra air in that the injectors can no longer keep up, fitting higher flow models might help.

otherwise you will just f*** it up.

    The EA thru EL ran 0280 150 790 --18.15lbs/hr 1988-1998
    The AU ran 0280 155 844--14.3lbs/hr 1998-2002

I can't see any reason to change to a Ford injector, other than you got some new ones for free and yours were stuffed.
The standard VN 0280 150 901 flows 18.55lbs/hr and each injector is good for between 32 and 42 horsepower , that's a huge 252 horsepower.

I can't see anyone needing larger flow rates than that unless turbo or supercharger.

    VS is a 0280 150 973 and flows 18.65lb/hr or 196cc/min.
    VN is a 0280 150 901 and flows 18.55lbs/hr or 195cc/min.
from what ive been told there are 4 little holes where the fuel comes out of on the vs injectors witch makes the fuel mix with the air better than the vn ones, So the air/fuel mixture will burn better and then in return give all round better performance and econemy.

vn series 2 had the injectors with the 4 little holes.. so i would think vp and vr had them too.

Dont waist you money on new injectors untill u got 200-300 @ the wheels your better of spending money in other areas for power gains than on this.

CHECK VN-VP SECTION OR V6 PERFORMANCE SECTION FOR INFO
    Cheers.

I know its a long shot but thought I would ask .

Do you think that the VS Injectors would be a better requirement for a VQ Series II V8?

Nice dig but yes waste of time and your car probably goes better because its leaning out making it a ticking time bomb. Changing injectors is pointless unless you change the tune to match
