Default L.E.D lights on a VN

I picked up some L.E.D taillights at Dick Smith powerhouse yesterday... They are very effective, make my taillights look much redder and better. They are around $10 each there (not bad I think) They also have L.E.D festoon bulbs ready to plug in (about $8 I think)

EXPERIMENTING WITH THE BLINKERS AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I pluged the L.E.D brakelight (the one I bought for the high mount stoplight) into the blinker just to see what happened. Blinked at a normal rate ect. So I am wondering if that means that I CAN replace my VN blinkers with L.E.D's? They are getting a bit faded at the front, thats for sure. Maybe I could have them at least on the front end, if a set of 4 of them freaks the electrical system out!

i did the same thing for my wagon clear tail lights, got led globes. i bought brake globes and indicators.

i thought the same thing as you with the flash rate, so i chucked both indicators in one side and it was fine. now i just need to get another set for the front.

i think its only vr onwards where they installed the blown globe system, it flashes faster if theres not enough resistance through the globes.

Dosent it, and wont it, stay at the same flash rate whatever type globe you put in it?
Mine go a little bit faster as I have replaced the stock relay with a "faster" relay in it.
Also, I think in some other older Commodores they flash off there nut when one of the indicator globes are blown, seen it happen in a VH before.

Yeah, does'nt seem to freak the VN out at all (grin) Does anyone know the size of the wedge bulb in the high mounted stoplight? Am I wrong to say its a T10 like this L.E.D one on ebay?

Yup, they have orange. You can even order online...http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.fi...ogs/CTG0000610

You have to be careful to order the right ones though. There are two models of L.E.D stoplight, one has 2 contacts on the bottom, one has only one (VN uses the 2 contact type)

The blinkers are yellow, and should work (but have'nt tried em yet) Will post L.E.D part numbers soon

Watch out! That is the wrong one, it won't work. The right globe is the 19 LED Cluster #1157 12VDC http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.st...uct/View/P8629

That is because it is a dual Stop/tail light with the double contacts on the bottom.

I reckon, as they are brighter than the original globes... in fact I noticed a lot of new cars/trucks have L.E.Ds already. Example BMW 5 series.

I live near the Princes Highway, and I've noticed 90% of older trucks have had theirs replaced with L.E.Ds too. The truck type are a bit different though, because the whole taillight is usually replaced with a new L.E.D unit... the taillight in that case is made up of distinct points of light, where with these "bulb replacement" type lights you do see a bright spot where the light is in the taillights, but you can't actually see the individual L.E.D's through the lens.

They are a bit brighter, but more impressive is they are much redder, it looks pretty sweet. See if I can take some photos of mine later today after dark. My taillights looked pretty washed out with the normal bulbs in 'em, but they look very red and nice now. Yeah I reckon it gives the rear of a older car an edge, sweet

Cool look forward to that Makes older cars new again They really need it some over the years they fade and it's cheaper then getting a new taillight fitted they might look great in a tinted taillight?.

I'm about to go grab one now I'll snap a pic but only because my camera won't work at night It's so shit

It's a bad pic in the pic they don't look as good as in the flesh, But one thing you need to get used to is the single dot of red.
It's in the top right only the rest are standard globes. I drove home with the right one in and the driver behind me was very curious looking on.
They seem to stand out further away but i think the single red dot would look better with all 4 brake lights and very good and very different at night time.

Can't wait to see Andy's night shots
