hi evry1.I've just come across your site and it sounds and looks gr8.Im in need of some help with a vn fuel pump problem.there is no noise from it when i hit the key but a test lite comes on for a few seconds after the key is let go then goes off again.have tried spraying aerostart down throttle body and it will fire but stops when used up.can sum1 please help b4 i go spending big bux at the mechanics.
If you get 200,000 km out of VN fuel pump you are going well. Something over a hundred bucks for a new one. Not to hard to install. Get the back wheels up on ramps undo a few retaining screws or something like that and it twists out.
A mechanic should install it for fifty bucks or so but VN fuel pumps often need replacing.
thanx bluecar. this is the second pump in 6 months.cant get car to mechanics becoz it's unreg'd.supplier MAY honour warranty but mech will still slug $100 to refit new 1. car was starting fine once a week but just stopped starting.Do the pumps have constant power when key is turned?
Once they reach pressure they cut undo the fuel line hold it in a coke bottle and ask someone to hit the key, no fuel pump is dead. If its not making sound it will be dead, it is not rare for these pumps to die what people dont realise is that the pump uses the fuel as lubricant so it is not recomended to run them under a quarter of a tank, if you always run it low this is why it has died when you get a new one make an effort to keep it over a quarter.

thanx sik sv. thats pretty much what i thought. i'll get a new one asap and change it.have u heard of any aftermarket replacement setups that use an external pump and hose into the tank?
Unfortunately the sender unit in the tank is made with the pump in mind you would probably be able to rig something up but as to being available retail i'm pretty sure there's nothing out there. You can get aftermarket internal pumps which are supposedly better but I can't swear to that as i've never had one myself.
