Default Stage 2 cam vs SC14

There have been heaps of threads on supercharger and camshaft upgrades, I personally supercharged but want to take an unbiased look at which of the upgrades the v6 buick got the most power from. Put with a 2 1/4 '' exhaust and headers which of the setups: stage 2 cam vs sc17 at 3psi would produce more power?

Hmm, If I could get the power a SC14 gives via a cam, I'd go for it. I know nothins about cams... But I doubt they would give that much power? could be wrong hrug:

the cam will definatley make more power and will be cheaper too just remember that you will need a cam kit with a memcal to suit or else you will require a tune but the same goes for the blower too
im not admiring your car im looking in disgust

you say stage 2 cam, but what are the specifics of it? every cam manufacturer is different when it comes to their "stages"....i have changed my way of thinking and the fact that you cannot see an upgraded cam or stroker crank when you open the bonnet makes it that much more appealing to me.....call me boring.....but some of you know what i am getting at.

I can see what you mean. I guess it would be nice to have a blower sitting there to show off. That said, I'd take whichever is easier on the engine... ???

Why stage 2? And not stage 3?
I have a stage 2 crow cam in my car and im kicking myself for not having a stage 3 instead, they are not much more expensive and give much more power from what i have been told...and the fuel economy doesnt really change all that much between the 2

What sort of power gain do you get for a crow stage 2 / 3? And hows fuel consumption in general?

    EDIT: just looked here :http://www.crowcams.com.au/templates...I-Memcal.shtml

I'd be impressed if anyone shows me a dyno sheet with much more than 135rwkw with a mild cam and the stock heads, it's not enough to worry a car with the toyota blower @ 6psi on it, but many cars are making 150-155 with ported heads and a cam

Crow cams want around 1200 for the stage 2 and 1300 for the stage 3, you still need to buy a roller chain kit and their is around 150. The stage 3 cams need an exhaust, cai, headers and a small stall converter. And the prices above are not for install...supply only

Considerin tax is comin up i will probably go with an entire engine overhaul change the pistons and go with a stage 3 cam and install a small stall converter. Gotta add another cat as well so price will be hefty but power will be nice...

You don't need a stall converter for the stage 2 cam all you need is headers 2 1/4-3" exhaust system and a cai. I think stall converters well atlest the 3500rpm ones aren't too cheap tho... Don't know exact prices
