By the way its a vn series 2 v6 manual.
i had my engine light come on a while ago.
Any way i did the "paper clip trick" and got
code 42:knock sensor.
I was wondering if anyone else has had to change this part?
Are They cheap?
Are they Easy to install?
What do they do/ measure?
If anyone can help me it would be muchly appreciated.
sorry mate i dont know!!!
but i would like to know for future referances
Adam
get one from a wreckers they are damn expensive brand new from memory over $300 they are simple enough to replace they just bolt into the block you should be able to get it in and out without removing anything else
i do warn you thow the knock sensor retards timing when pinging is detected and while it is broken you run the risk of damaging your engine
im not admiring your car im looking in disgust
whats it do?
Adam
It detects pinging and pre detonation in the engine and retards the timing to stop things breaking but the bad part is it can go off with all the vibrations in the engine and make you go slower than you should.
Also worst of all for you ahszv6, is that when it gives an error code the ecu will pull out heaps of timing as a failsafe mode and your car will be a total slug. But I'd test it again to see if gives the same error code just incase something weird didnt happen
cheers for all the help
if it helps i had the motor running perfect in a wagon,
2 weeks later i pulled it out and swapped em over with the manual box
got it running and 1 of the headers wasnt sealing properly
tightened it up
then next thing i know i start it and look at the dash and the light was on
would a series 1 knock sensor fit in series 2engine?
Thanks again for all the help![]()
ive got a spare series 1 i might have to grab it off
nowonder i noticibly lost torque
i just got back from repco
it was i think $93 for a vp v6 knock sensor
so thats sweet as
does the old one just unbolt using a ringspanner?
I ACTUALLY MEANT CODE 43 KNOCK SENSOR
