well it only look liek aluminium mounts to me so maybe get some made up out of stainless or mild steel cos you wont get warranty for it cos you installed it so its your fault for not setting it up correctly..... thats exactly what the seller is going to say
Looks like a fairly shitty construciton for $200.... what brand? I hope it isnt whiteline cos i was thinking about getting one of those. As its just the strut plates, can you get some machined to weld back on? The metal looks ot thin to take the stress of both mounts for a long itme in a 5ltr.
aZk.
What brand were they
look, most strut braces ive seen have the plate with 3 bolts, so 2 has a look of weekness, and now doubt you thrash this a little bit??? cause a little bit of flex and snap. you have 3 options now dude, wither
1 . take the whole lot off, and weld the plate back together (if you dont have or know someone that can weld, go to a genral enginnering or sheetmetal place) and get the to grind all egdes on an anlg eand reweld, it will come up nice (10-30 bucks)
2. go to a genral enginnering joint with a drawing and get them to make you up new brackets (a bit more costly)
3. buy a new strut brace
personally, i would take option 1, as it will clean up nice with a good pre greind, and nice deep penatrating weld, and a good clean up grind
oh and as for the cause mabye your engine mounts are a tad loose and the motor was rocking a bit, pulling one strut tower up a lot more than the other, or just a good chassis bend, like a quick sharp jolt of a corner
or maybe cos its aluminium its not suitable for highly stressed applications....
oh shit it needs to be tig welded, head to the fabricators mate
Ah it doesnt look at strong enough...metal is quite thin in places...just like the ones on Ebay.. Theres alot out there that just dont appear to be thick enough or strong enough?
I would go back and complain where it was bought...
Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly does the strut brace do? Braces struts I suppose.
Lol you're right.Originally Posted by fazz1977

Stops flex between the strut towers during cornering which gives you better handling. Basicly the stiffer you can make the chassis, the better it will handle (assuming it's not substantially heavier ofcourse).
I thought it might be along those lines... cheers.
Its made by nolathane. I just found that one of my stabliser pins is loose up top and has worn thin do you think this would have helped it to break. as for what next my uncle works for national engineering and should be able to tig it for me and maybe make it stronger
Uncle has had a look It's steel but he reackons he can make a stronger one from scratch

I didn't do it
well thats handymake it out of stainless steel as it doesnt get weak spots when it is welded
My 4 month old strutt brace has snaped what do you reackon might cause this as it wasnt cheap
HAHAHAHA
wtf... unless I am missing something here.....that aint cool manOriginally Posted by flipsyde

That looks poorly made, and why you would buy something like that astounds me..
As you can see its only using the 2 bolts of your Strut tower.. 99% of braces will use all 3..
I wouldnt blame that its cause its a 5ltr or cause you throw your car around.. As 2 of my freinds are using the type sold on ebay and compete in Toyo Drift.
