    Default memcal for a vp

ok well under direction from foamy.. ive greated a thread so everone out there in the knowledgable world of JC, can either help me, hinder me or inturn help them... he he he..

Well anyway i have no idea where to start i know i have to play with spark and advancing it a bit then get the fuel mix rite. Not sure what else.

My car has got a pod filter, CAI, 70mm tb, 2.5inch cat back.. high flow cat running 1 muffler.

Ive downloaded Tunerpro and the bin data for the vn and the ecu data for a vn. I just hope that this information is the same for a vn and vp.

I think thats all for now so if anyone can help me ide love you for ever.. lol

It's probably better to start with the VR binary really, it's a much better thing, more complex yes but better.

Here's the ECU file and the Manual VR binary you use as a base to convert back to a VN-VP tune

Also Below is the VS V8 Manual tune, BWFW

    Thumbs up

Here's something for you all to do today.
First lesson in converting a VR V6 manual binary to run on a VN/VP V6 Auto
(I'll adjust the above post to include a V8 base binary tomorrow)

    KOPTFLG4: Option Word 4 - Bit 0 - Bit 0
    Bit 0 1 = Disable anti-theft module control

    memcal for a vp-anti_theft.jpg

In the flags and switches section you will find option word 4, now bit 0 turns the VR anti theft on or off. We want to disable it so the car will start!, so double click bit 0.

    memcal for a vp-antitheft2.jpg

To set word 4 bit 0 to a 1(anti theft disabled) we need to click the little box shown here and then push save (and then saveAS your binary)

Congratulations, the VR tune will now start your VN or VP, wooohooo

Ok now for the next part

KSPDSENA: Road speed params - Speed sensor constant Pulses/Kilometre

    memcal for a vp-speed.jpg

Another thing we have to fix is the way the ECU reads the speed sensor.
In the VN and VP the speed sensor runs into the cluster and gets divided by 5 then sent to the ecu.
In the VR the speed sensor is wired straight to the ECU so the value in the VR is 5 times higher,
but problem is we are sticking this in a car that is wired up VN style so we need to fix this
and tell the ECU that the pulses per km will be 5 times less than it expected from the VR.

So find KSPDSENA in the Constants section and double click that.

    memcal for a vp-speed2.jpg

Now here we can see the stock VR pulses per kilometer 6248.14, scrub that

    memcal for a vp-speed3.jpg

And enter the VN spec version 1250.05 and save it
YaY, now all our speed related code in the VR tune will work things at the proper speeds
You could now drive this tune around kinda..... but there's one more important thing we need to fix.

    KTCCTMPL: TCC lower temperature limit

    memcal for a vp-tcc.jpg

    Double click this

    memcal for a vp-tcctemp.jpg

Here you see something interesting!, even though this is a manual tune it does retain all the code that's needed
to run the VN's auto! amazing and thank you very much Holden but they did set this temp to enable the TCC converter lockup too high, but we like it to lock up, so lets fix that.

    memcal for a vp-tcctemp2.jpg

Set it to 44 degrees and push save (much better! )

    LESSON ONE COMPLETE

I hope everyone learned something and yes this thread will be something special so might as well sticky it right now before we go much further into making the old VN/VP, smoother, faster, and more fuel efficient , I'll even get into the tuning for boosted cars with 2 bar sensors later on

Hey fella's i got x2VR and x5VN memcal chips i was just wondering if there is anyone out there that reprograme these that would like to do a swap for them.I'm after a performance enhanced chip for my s2vnv6 i see most of these reprogramed performance chips for vn/vp i see on ebay sell for $150.I could be wrong but this seems like a good deal to me as how much you could make once these chips have all been reprogramed.Unless i'm wrong and these memcal chips are a dime a dozern

Just search for "Willem eprom" on ebay you are looking for one like this, you can put it in a box or just lay it on your desk like I do

There are other threads around about how to do it, basically you just want to change the program on the eprom that's in the memcal, you don't need to hook a computer up to the ecu but you can do that if you want to tune it as you drive around, www.moates.net have the bits you need to do that. But yeah search around a bit and you'll find out everything you need to know. If you have an engine that came with a mild tune from the factory and is a good breathing motor ie, the 5 liter you can alot more power and ecconomy very easily. But the V6 will only see small gains, in power at least. Still worth doing though.

As for converting the VR binary to the VN, it will be driveable with what I've posted so far. The air fuel ratio at WOT will be a little rich on most stock cars, closer to correct on a VN with a very good exhaust. I'll add some more changes you can make to get it closer to what you want after tomorrow
