Hey people i recently fixed up my exhaust and whacked in CAI so anyways i took it out today and gave it all it had. Foot flat to the floor, i took off down the freeway ripped through 1st, nows where it gets strange, i have a feeling that my car held 2nd (maybe 3rd but i think 2nd, but not heaps keen on doing it again to find out) up untill about 130 reving way higher than usual it was still pulling fine too :my: then i think i hit a rev limiter the engine did that sort of bounce in revs. Then i let the peddle up a bit, next cog and i was off again.
Is there such a rev limiter? is my auto box shit?, it usually has no dramas but the car hasnt revved out like that b4.
She (i call the car bessie) still managed to hit 200kph b4 i had to glaze my brakes for a round-about. They squeek like M F now.
your car will have a rev limiter.. my car has one at 6000, the old chip was 5000 and my old vn i had was 5500. i can't remember what i use to get out of 2nd anymore.. been a long time since i had an auto..
The factory limiter is set at 5850rpm. Also good to see you being a ******** on the road.

Really? 5850? My tacho cant be too accurate then, ive had my VP at a touch over 6k, was still going too.
Manual champ. Autos are limited.

well mine cuts out at 6000 for sure.. right on.. and the old chip was spot on 5000 too. i also tried another stanard chip out of an auto and it was at 5000 too. my girlfriedns friend had a vn 5 speed and it cut out at 5000 too
I would still have thought that a manual would be limited?Originally Posted by AirStrike

Redline on the tacho is at 5600, I always thought that they were limited to about 6000 (even the manuals).
Though one day my accelerator jammed at full throttle, and I had the time to notice the tacho bouncing off the end of the scale before I shut the engine down.
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.

A one time, damn good squeeze, unfortunately i dont have my own drag strip or race track, id be happy to do it there if it were so.
well if that is the case with the limiter, why do i have 2 standard chips that only let my car rev to 5000. might hook a tacho upto it and see if it is the same...
limit at 5000 lol ur chip sux :P i havnt found the limiter in my manual and i accidently steped on it out of gear and i'm sure it was over 6.
The stock factory limiters are as follows
The VN V6 is limited at 5300-5400 (is a soft cut in)
The VR is 5700-5800
If you really want to know the VP I'll check that too![]()
If you could that would be great. I notice that there is at least 6 different memcals for the VP. Some kind of mods were done to solve teething problems with the engine. Would you know which part no memcal would give the better performance? I have to run a standard ecu & memcal for the bracket that I am racing in.Originally Posted by greenfoam

Cheers.
before i got my chip mine did it half way through redline. it hasnt done it since my new chip but i havent been game to take it further up the rev range
Are the revs only limited when in gear or is the rev-limiter constant?
actually i think you'll find the rev limiter is around 5600-5650, ive been poking round in the EPROM for the VN,
redline is at 5500rpm, going any higher on a stock engine isnt wise,
let me join the que of people waiting to slap you on the back of the head, lol btw you probbly warped your rotors braking for that roundabout
well it looks like i better hook a another tacho up seeing there are too many people against what i am saying.. maybe the tacho in my dash is buggered..
the other night i was stuck behind an L plater doin 35 in a 60 zone. i'm used to driving in overdrive but lately since i got the zorzt i drive in 3rd, anyway, so i went to over take and thouhgt i knocked in down to second, nup jumped in to first and i planted it, ****in took off good for a second then wack hit the limiter hard on the noggin, i have a digital tacho with recall and when i recalled it it read a whoppin 6020 rpm. didnt bust nuthing and it ****in went good, but yeah that feeling is a ****, but i can almost garentee you youve popped your kick down cable a few clicks the wrong way by flat footing it, the dust mark should shtill be there
