VN S1 & S2 Gearboxes

Howdy all, just wondering if the S1VN and the S2VN gearboxes are the same. They look different in the rear counterweight but is that it? Can they be interchanged? Thanks.

I believe the fly wheels are different 8 vs 6 bolt. That may only be with the manuals but as far as i know, the flywheels are different.

i've been trying to find out the same thing... at least if the series 1 and series 2 v8 boxes are interchangable.

i get different answers depending on who i ask... but i'm going to call some dealerships and wreckers this week to try and find someone who's done one.

there is no addition in the service manual between S1 and S2, so I don't see why not, difference is the flywheel with the V6

I got a VNS2 5 speed and i put i S1 box in mine, just had to change the front housing that bolts to the motor.

i put a series one box and bell housing on my series two motor.
