You may rembmer a post i did a couple weeks ago where i went to my local Holden spare parts and the Holden men told me the quite simply a VS CAI wouldn't fit my VP Calais. I told him you could melt it, and slam the bonnet, he told me thats bs and i'd have the cut the shit outta this thing and basically ruin it before it would fit.
You guys all showed me pics of yours and so i went back on Sat to buy it. He told me the same thing that it wouldn't fit blah blah and i'd be wasting my money. I told him you could melt it and he laughed at me again.
Damn you Holden man i thought, so i bought it anyway. I get home, open up the bonnet and begin fitting it. I'm almost done, and in the background i heard "How's the cold air goin?" I turn around and there's the Holden man! He lives 2 doors up!
So at the time i'm just about to poor boiling water on the CAI. He repeats that it won't work, but best of luck to me anyway, and walks off.
10mins later i slam down the bonnet and what do you know? Sits perfectly. The Holden man walks past about an hour later, sees my bonnet sitting flush. I point and say "sits perfectly mate"![]()
Ah victory is sweet...
Good work JustCommodores![]()
lol good work. that will show him...lol
Haha nice.
lol nice man, i find it funny people can say things wont work when they havnt tried them....
hahaha awesome...it just shows who is in the know...well it isnt me...but the other guys here know lots...ask them...
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
PM with any info.
kick him in the balls to drive home the point :P
Its kind of silly that Holden would employ ppl that know so little.
Sweet work showin him who's the boss man hehe
It's not so much the fact that he doesn't know that it will fit, but he keeps insisting that he is right.
Good to know that a community forum knows more about the cars than the manufacturers of the vehicles. LOL. Way to make him feel like a dick. Good work.
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.
I'm suprised hot water was enough to melt the plastic!, but that's a funny story![]()
Surely after 10 mins it would have been cold again... I would have thought you needed to use a heat gun....So at the time i'm just about to poor boiling water on the CAI. He repeats that it won't work, but best of luck to me anyway, and walks off.
10mins later i slam down the bonnet and what do you know? Sits perfectly

btw it works awesome for economy. i drove 70km stop/start through sydney (Campbelltown - Castle Hill via Cumberland highway for those of you playing at home) and usually i average about 9.8L - 10.4L i did it this time at 8.6L/100km (measured on the Calais dash) and that was with getting almost every red light. damn traffic. so good work CAI!
what do you guys think - add a K&N to this? ive heard it does nothing, but i've heard that with a CAI it works well...
Go the CAI and K&N, they're a great combo.
Good for you mate. The guys at Bay City Holden here in Frankghanistan told me the same thing. Mine fitted perfectly first time. No mods needed.
