Default Removing rear trim from VN wagon

    Hi all

Just replaced the roof lining on the wagon this week but in the process cracked part of the rear trim on the wagon, one side came off ago but the other side cracked as soon as any pressure was placed on it.

I'm going down to the wreckers to try and find some decent trim bits for the rear but are there any tips in removing the trim without it breaking as it seems really brittle...

    Thanks in advance

Looks like I'll be doing an experiment on all the wagons at the wreckers to get the answer to the easiest way

Cool Head Lining and Plastic strip success

    Hi All
I replaced the head lining in the Old VP wagon the other week with
the Mrs helping we removed and replaced every piece with no breaks.
I used a long screw driver the longest I could get. You know the really
ones in the screw driver kits from Kmart. the Stanley ones its a square
sharfted type. anyway I lifted one side a little and then moved the driver to the
other side lifting it gentley as I went. To our surprise nothing went wrong
and I mean nothing with the strips. The only thing that I wasnt happy with
was the head lining I got had 4 plastic plates 2 under the rear handles
and 2 in the rear cargo area. I had to put them in and the bolts I had
didnt fit so the plates are floating around in the car now.
All in all a very happy day to get it done. All thanks to the
advice and pictures posted in the JC how to. What can I say
    this is a great group.

I've Got Papers To Prove I'm Sane.
Can You Produce Some Too ???
    Cheers

Thanks Madhouse Dave, I'll add that to my list of 'experiments' for the wreckers next week....

Must say though that you and your missus obviously have a lot more patience than the rest of us here !!!

Ok, went down to the self serve wreckers Tuesday and got myself a pair of new rear trims for the cargo area of the wagon but unfortunately the only answer I came up with is some trims obviously age worse than others as the first one I pulled off a car came off perfectly but otherside snapped in half far too easily

Then I spent a while trying to find another decent matching one for the otherside (ten VN-VP wagons in the yard, all ten had at least one side of the trim broken so ended up going for one a slightly different shade of grey)

I did go from the middle plug out though, holding my palm above the trim so it didn't rise enough to crack, managed to put a couple of small hairline cracks in one side putting it in though.

Only other thing of course was I had to cut the trim under where the seatbelts go through to get the belts back under the trim, but you can barely notice it unless you look hard at it...
