Hi, i have recently somehow managed to jam my glove box shut. I think that the springs that release the glovebox are buggered because they are no longer taught and just push in easy without any give in it. Does anyone know how i would go about getting it open again? I have had a look around but can't seem to work it out.![]()
Cheers
Note to Mods:I'm not sure if i am posting this in the right spot so please feel free to move it.
This is the right spotYou might be able to get in from beneath, and push the black pin out (I dont think so though) - someone will know..
hmmm hit it with a hammer many times till it falls out.. lol nar dont do that. I think its going to be a pritty hard excercise. I think you might have to take try and pop that black pin out and then sort of pop the top piece out by gently bending it all out. Are you sure you havent locked the lock.
oh ok,ill give that a try...Thanks. Yeah im positive it's not locked...Funny thing is this is the third commodore i know of that this has happened & everyone one of them had to get a whole new glovebox....grrr
A fix for this for future searches.
buy second hand VS glovebox lock without key, ~$25.
Pop and remove the plastic surround from the glovebox lock
Pop and remove the buttons you push to open glovebox
Use pointy nose pliers and remove the the unlock mechinism arms
Use a flat blade screwdriver and wedge and break the plastic bottom of the glovebox lock till there is little left
The glovebox will, when you have broken enough off, open, feeding the lock through the hole
Use a small flat blade to remove the lock from the dash by pushing the pins in
Replace the glovebox lock with a new one
You can also change the barrel over so your key works
The issue is the release arm breaks and it does not fully engage the mechinism at the dash
Time taken to fix, 5 mins
