    Default The next step

ok, currently i have 2.5' cat back, 70mm tb, pod, CAI.. you get the gist anyway i got some money landing my may in the next few weeks and im basically setting my car up for the turbos to be bolted on somewhere before chistmas. But where should i go from here. Obviously i dont want extractors cause they are just going to be ripped off. Should i get some yella terra rockers and maybe a bit of a head work or. something else. Im hopefully getting a new auto soon just gotta find a DECENT one in a car still so i can drive it and get it checked by a mechanic and a stage 2 shift kit stuck in. I will be getting some 3.9 diff gears in around a month so thats out as well. So basically ill have about a grand to spend on the engine. Minus a couple of things that i have to buy should be around $250 max but yeah. So any other ideas where to start now???

p.s. Whats a new sump worth. Prob a larger volume if possible????

    Michael

    p.s. is a vp v6

    If your gonna turbo it?

    Well.....

    CAM + CHIP
    NEW ROCKERS
    HEAD PORTED, BLUEPRINTED, POLISHED
    NEW INJECTORS, LEADS,
    NEW FUEL RAILS
    NEW SUMP
    FORGED PISTONS
    FORGED CONRODS

thats just to start with.... if your getting serious about turboing and really forcing air into your engine... thats what i would start with. With only 250... your not looking to hot interms of modding it. I would get the cam package.. but you cant really afford it wiht 250. SAve your money dude.

copper head gasket ringed as well(forgot the proper name ) why forged rods? i would have thought unless you are gonna put a huge cam in there and reve it heaps then you wouldnt need them.

lot of people on the forum have said time and time again that a v6 will handle 8 or 10 psi no worries. which it should. there is one fella who is getting 220rwkw's with a stock motor

yeah i no this. They should handle around 240 without to many mods. But i want it to be sota reliable. I dont want it off the road every second week cause i keep breaking things. Ill only be running 8psi on the stocko motor.. But as time and money persisits i want to build another motor to take alot more. Something that will scare the absolute SHIAT out of me infact. Basically with the stock motor and running 3.9 diff gears i want to be well in the 13s. I think this is very possible even though ill be running simple manifolds.

Ive been thinking about it all day and i think im going to get a set of rockers, and any money left over ill chuck either towards my gb or getting 36lb injectors to sit in my cuboard until i get the manifolds and turbos and stuff.

So that leaves me with my next question... What ratio rockers would suit?????

i bought some 24lb injectors from the us for $50 au delivered. that is the best place to look for that sort of thing. i even beat him down a little on his buy it now price..
there was a turbo kit on ebay yesterday.. i don't think it lasted 24 hours, as it is sold already.. would be fairly good. was a single t04 with wastegate. was for 1000. it came with a chip and all. it looked like the bloke crashed his car and was just selling bits off..

umm not sure if you will need to, but wouldnt a new fuel pump be on the top of the list? like a bosch 044 or something, depending on the amount of power your going for

injectors and a 2 bar map sensor and an eprom burner (all must buy items for you) and maybe some money in the bank incase you need a stronger pair of head gaskets later on, don't worry about the rest of the engine unless it breaks, doubt you will break it on 8psi anyway. The rods and pistons seem to be fatter and stronger than the super 6's. Fuel pump should be OK a quick run on the dyno will tell you later on anyways

well i sat there for like 15 minuts the other day trying to work it out. What i have come up with is a single turbo, running on the passenger side of the car. Using stock headers on the drivers side and a custom one of the passenger side. That way i can sorta limit the use of steam pipe and cut the cost down that extra bit. Will run a cross over pipe along the back of the engine to bring it accross. Then i will need to maybe make a custim plenum with the tb on the drivers side. This will make it so much easier to get the boost from the cooler. 3 inch dump pipe down to the high flow cat running my 2.5 inch zorst.. That was it saves a bit of dosh dosh... Ive been told it should be a pritty good setup.. just need a rising rate fuel reg some bigger injectors and the manifold as well as the turbo and dump pipe and it should all be good SHOULD I SAY...

p.s if this is hard to read i am sorry... but ive been down the pub since 6 and QLD WON!!!!! QLDER!!!!!! im not drunk

not a bad idea, let me know when you get prices on a single turbo manifold as im intrested, i suppose if you wanted to later you could always add another turbo on the other 3 cyclinders

well im going to TRY and make the manifolds myself. cause i wanna do as much as possible myself. I just read that post i wrote the other night.. was pritty good considering i dont remember doing it.. like i said i wasnt drunk. but anyway that is the basic setup i wanna do.. There is alot more involved then what i said though.. oil lines, cooler, cooler pipe etc etc etc.. im not sure wether or not to get another engine or use this one. Cause this ones got 265000 on it and i think it might be getting a bit tired. I dont wanna do any internal work to this one i think..
