Okay, the standard deal with having to tap the dash to get the tacho working. But it's not just getting it started, even when I'm changing up through the gears sometimes it 'sticks' at around 3000rpm and needs a tap to get it moving again.
Is it possible to 'clean' part of the cluster to get it a little freed up? Similar problem with the speedo, I can speed up or slow down by up to 10kph and the needle won't move.
Any ideas? I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with the solder connections on the back, I think it's just the gauges getting a little 'sticky'.
Cheers.

Yeah have a look around the vr-vs threads too, its a common thing. My petrol gauge was sticking and I just went to the wreckers and got a new petrol gauge and fitted it to my console. There is something going around about how to cheaply fix the cog that breaks/jams, try and find out about that, sorry I can't remember. Easiest (but more expensive) is swap the whole instument cluster over, its not ideal though.
I pity those poor suckers on the freeway. Gas, brake, honk. Gas, brake, honk. Honk, honk, punch. Gas, gas gas!
