    Default VP central locking..

    Hey guys,

Having a small drama with my central locking -
I hit the remote and both front driver side and passenger doors lock but not the two back doors. Though when all doors are locked and i hit the remote they all open? so it seems that when im locking it there is a problem, i can see the back doors trying to lock but they dont move enough to engage.

Also my VP manual does not have a tacho on the dash, can i upgrade to a tacho dash with a neat swap?

    Thanks alot

The Cluster swap is easy, just head down to your local wreckers and pick up a lvl 2 from any VP.. Undo a few screws pull the old out.. Put new in.. Start er up

For the Central-Locking.. It sounds like your remote Button is broken?

Thanks, but are the lvl 2 dashes pre-wired to handle a car with a factory lvl 1 dash, if that makes sense. Basically scince my car came out of factory with a lvl 1 dash with no tacho, does changing to lvl 2 require the tacho wire to be hooked up or is it already there?

a level 2 cluster from a vp will fit and work with no mods or changes in a factory level 1 vp.

as for the remote, it sounds like either the locking mechanism is tight and the actuators are having trouble locking, or theyre on their way out and unlocking is easier for it. will mean having to rip the door trims off the back, id suggest getting a couple of rear actuators from the wreckers first, then take trims off one day, see if its just tight somewhere, if not, swap the actuators over and test, see if it fixes it.

I have had pretty much the same problem with myn, Drivers door wouldn't open or lock, Back passenger door wouldn't lock but would open.
I replaced both motors on the back door and drivers door,
But the problem with the back door was simply fix fixed with a little WD40 and open and closing it about 40 times, It had seemed over the years dust and crap built up and it was so stiff only the 45deg heat in summer would make it work right.

Give them a little spray at the arms in the back of the door and see if that works.
My doors to lock them i had to press the remote button and then press the drivers door lock, But i had to lean over and lock the back door by hand.
Now they all open and close for me thank god.

My central locking doesn't work full stop. Everything is there, plugged it, yet no voltage from the fuse box. Fuse is ok. I was thinking maybe a dead module?

That's what I was thinking. I tested back as far as the fuse box, no voltage at the central locking fuse terminal. Fuse OK.

Might be the fuse box itself?

Theres nothing worse then having to check and reach over and lock other doors before leaving the car, I spent a day on my doors and didn't realise till 2 days later it was all working OK, I still got the scars on my hands it's a bitch of a place to stick the motors.
Hope you get them working soon.

It's just a shame they charge so much, But maybe they can find the problem first without charging you and then give you the total price, Then maybe it might be fixable for you to do it and save a mint

MitchVP Any good with the WD40???

Thought that would work over the years god knows what builds up in there, It only takes a little stiffness to stop it going down, Up is easy
